I was wondering if each time you cook something if you had a camara out and waiting ? Remember I am still really new to SMF and I am not accustomed to taking photos of each thing I cook on my smoker & I don't feel my cooking is worthy of a photo shoot .

How do you decide what to take Qview of and when ? I cook each night , sometimes on the watt burner smoker and some times on the grille .

Thanks for the input

I take a lot of pics when I have the smoker going or if I'm making something different. My biggest problem is I rarely remember to download the pics from the camera so I can upload them to the web. :)

every time I cook, or bbq I am taking pics.

I belong to a few food sites, as well as have my own food blog, and bbq club on facebook. Always pics to share with one of these venues.

Just adds to the hobby, and the sharing of ideas & pics imho.

Your blog is excellent and all of your pictures are as well . I will try and take a few more pictures as I can . My main goal is just feeding my family on weekends and my daughter on weeknights .

thank you for your time & input .

thanks, I appreciate that

its just good to have a hobby that keeps me home with the family most of the time. I dont take many pics during the week, as it is quick dinners and leftovers after a long days work.

I try to get new and never tried stuff, but often have to much going on to get photos. I use both the smoker and the grill much more than I q-view. Just don't like having camera about with 4 kids running back and forth.

I always plan on shooting my smokes and Q, I just don't always use the pics. If youi're into pics, take several from each shot/angle, then choose the best. My wife thinks I'm nuts, but at least she eats the Q. If I really want to drive her up the wall, I'll take pics of my food at a restauarant.

I pretty much have a camera close by all the time. When my father died 12/31/08, I was amazed at how few pictures I had of us together. So, in not letting that happen to my 2 sons, I shoot lots of photos. I email family updates of our goings on here in North Texas to family in FL and AZ. And yes, I do shoot a bunch of me in the kitchen and on the patio with the smoker. Kind of like a mini blog via email for the family and everyone tells me how much they enjoy the photos.

I even got a Flip video for Christmas. Now, if I can just get past the shock and awe of seeing myself on camera.

You never know what you'll come across. This is one of my favorites.

I'm not much of a shopper and when I saw this, it struck a nerve.

My wife is way over the whole camera thing. Now she almost stages the meat before the pictures. I have always made her wait for the meat to rest cause she's a dig right in kind of eater. I always have a camera in the house and theres an extra one for her if she goes out with the grand kids.

If it's going to be a big smoke, I will usually take pics. My camera resides with my pickup and I am seldom far from it. So, if the inspiration hits, I can easily snap some shots and share.

If the snow comes in like they are predicting, I've cleaned out the firebox and will be trying another Pork-U-Pine experiment. It will be on Friday or Saturday and I will be sharing pics.

I don't take pics nor post most of my smokes I do when I'm doing something new or I haven't done any Qview in awhile.

If it's something new or different yes. But it does seem a bit obsessive. When we have guests around I do not take pics. I actually feel self conscience about it when other people are around.
It does take a good deal of time to upload them to the net and then post them for qview. I am doing ribs tomorrow which I won't take pics of but I am doing a pheasant and chicken breasts with a wild rice pilaf later in the week which I may post qview of because it is something new and different for me.

The nice thing about pics is if you have questions during a long smoke say a brisket for instance people here can see it in progress and give you advice as you go.

If I'm doing something I haven't done in awhile or I'm doing something different than I normally do, I'll take pics.

Although lately it seems that I get to smoke so infrequently that ANYTHING I do is something I haven't done in awhile.

I have a camera full of qview that I have not been able to post due to business travel for the last month.

3BQ - pix are a great way to ahve a step-by-step record of what you've done, what works and what didn't work. also is nice to have a finished and/or plated pictures so you have something to learn from for next time (either it worked or it didn't work).

as a side benefit, you can post those pix on internet forums and get everyone drooling, especially those poor saps stuck in the frozen tundra who have to wait at least a month longer, probably two!

I cheat.... my Blackberry has a camera on it, and since we don't have a land line (just cell's) I usually have it attached to my hip.
