What's the one dish or drink you need to have every Thankgiving.

Everyone has their meat choices, with Turkey and ham being high on the list, but what's the one other meal or drink item you have to have every Thanksgiving that leaves you feeling like you missed something if it isn't there? 

For my wife it is homemade pumpkin pie.  I leave making them up to her because I'm not a huge pumpkin pie fan. 

I am a HUGE fan of it's cousin though, Sweet Potato Pie.  It just isn't Thanksgiving for me without Sweet Potato Pie.  Made two today, and used the leftover filling to make a small custard which we've already "sampled."  Mmmmmm good.

I'm right there with you on the sweet tater pie, I could eat a whole one myself. I leave the pie baking to the wife, I tried it once and well lets just say it wasn't the best.

I hear ya!  I'm not a baker either but I wasn't going to get my SPP any other way.  A few years ago I actually ended up combining a bunch of recipes to create one I like.  Plus I cheat and use frozen pie crusts.  SPP is one forgiving recipe, kind of like the pork butt of pies!

I usually go to my cousins house for Thanksgiving and I can't get enough of her Italians sausage stuffing. It's so simple but delicious. 2lbs of italian sausage (must have fennel in it), celery, onions, chicken broth and a bag of herb stuffing mix. It will change your life haha. Not going to my cousins this year but I actually made 7 trays of it this year (6 for a charity and 1 to bring to my sister in laws)

Pecan pie is #1 on my list and then the Pumpkin pie, as for Turkey it is smoked or deep fried in a turkey fryer.
