The worst thing I have done concerning smoking or to my smoker was to go ahead and let my wife try it once. She said she has watched me enough that she knows she can do it. My smoker to this day has never fully forgiven me.

Oh man, this is a hilarious thread. I was getting ready to post my two, but they pale in compairison.

I only have two and they're no big deal. The first could've been bad but ended up being ok. I usually light my chimney on my little Smokey Joe. It lives normally right up against the house and I pull it out into the yard a bit when I use it. Well for whatever reason that day I didn't, I melted the vinal siding on the house here's the results.

The other was one was my first attempt at a beer can chicken in the WSM. I had other stuff going on the top rack and I didn't even think to measure if the chicken would fit on the bottom rack, standing up, with the top rack in place above it. Just for your info, it does NOT. LOL

GnuBee, I'm still laughing my butt off thinking of that poor woman who got hit it the head with a burning log. Sounds like the start of a great movie script.

I guess i should chime in.Many years ago i was in a hurry and put a roast on the kettle....I like to leave plastic wrap on to remind me how many pounds it is and take off before cooking....

Shrink wrapped roast beef.....

mballi don't give up on smoked corn, I smoke mine just like yours, naked with a bit of melted butter on it. takes 1 1/2 hours at 230f I use hickory smoke and it turns out wonderful. Don't know what your problem was, creosote maybe??

Dude when you hang out with rednecks stuff happens. My life is a movie script.

Whenever I complain about the start the campfire with gasoline thing. My Kin just point to the fire and say its going isn't it. They all light it that way.

I have converted a couple to the charcoal chimney though.

There is a great YouTube video that applys to a lot of this.

Two guys have a gigantic burn pile (8-10 ft. high and about 25 ft. diameter) in an open field. The brilliant idea for lighting said pile is to splash about 2-3 GALLONS! of gas onto the pile, the weather is dead calm with no air movement. It takes a good couple of minutes for the guy to make it around the pile liberaly sloshing it with gas. Then for "safety" they run a line of gas along a 8 foot board with one end in the pile - kinda like a fuse.

Well lets just say they made a great bomb! The vapors in the pile must have been very atomized, because when the "fuse" got to the pile it litteraly exploded! The entire pile was blown apart and gone, both guys were knocked flat on their butts.
