Just got my regularly scheduled "offer" from Paramount+ for a free month. I wait for these on the subscription providers. I can choose the commercial free option usually because that's what I've had before. They are counting on you forgetting to cancel it, but the jokes on them, I use Office365 for business and just plop a reminder in the calendar!
We had already watched the obvious stuff y'all have been talking about, Landman, Lioness, etc.. but doesn't look like there is anything new we would be interested in. And we try to watch some old stuff here and there, but hard to get back in to them...many just seem corny in the modern day.
I'll take the offer and watch the last season of 1923. The review score is high but mixed reviews here. What the heck, its free and the network series' we watch/record are petering out for the summer, so there will be a dearth of stuff to watch coming soon (we only watch a couple hours in the evening before the wife conks out in her chair!). I'll turn on commercial free for a month or two and catch up on Prime content sometime during the summer.
Can any of you folks think of anything else newer on Paramount+ other than 1923? Like I said, we have already watched everything we cared to see prior to, say, mid-January 2025.
Seems like I spend a hour looking for a movie to watch and end up just watching an old movie I have seen several times. Anyone else have this problem? Just have a hard time find newer movies to watch. Getting ready to cancel Netflix and Hulu. I dont mind paying for rentals if can find a decent one.
There just isn't much out there unless you like horror, murder , sex, crime and abject stupidity. So its not just you. They just dont make really good comedies and adventures anymore that dont have a bunch of weirdness or just "not-funny" in them. Saw a couple things in theaters recently that look decent but it will be a while for them to hit a streamer...and I do not go to movie theaters...
I'm home alone quite often, and I always have the TV on, I need the sound of the TV to drown out the ringing in my ears, even while I'm sleeping. Lately I found audiobooks on YouTube. I really like Mountain man history, and there are a ton of Mountain man audiobooks ranging from 3 hrs to 13 hrs long.
So instead of watching TV, I've been listening to true stories about real life Mountain man, which in turn has helped me sleep a little better. It keeps my mind busy, so I'm not thinking about this or that. They have been super helpful to me. So pick a topic, and see what turns up on a Y.T. search, also it's also free.
I'm one of those people that absolutely hate long drives, anything over a hr or more bores the hell out of me, so the audiobooks are great for that as well
Check them out, I think you'll enjoy them, I know that I do.
Dan.
I'm with you, except I CAN work in the kitchen for a while without the TV on but my default is either TV on or playing my music if I'm feeling it. I also like the TV for sleeping...I too have not just ringing in the ears, but way too many "thoughts" and memories running through my head. I've thought about audio books but then ran in to paywalls or commercials. You mention Y.T., is that YouTube? You pay for commercial free so they dont interrupt the audio books?
I used to love to play music videos on YouTube but didn't do it enough to justify the commercial free charge, and watching YouTube on the Firestick for instance is absolute murder with the commercials, they will interrupt a song just randomly somewhere for a commercial...makes me want to go "all Elvis" on the TV!
If they have audio-books on there, it might justify paying for commercial free, and then I can get my music videos back while I'm working in the kitchen again!
