I am still converting my DVD and Blu Ray collection to a NAS server. Going thru all these disks I still get surprised on all the videos I don't ever remember ordering. I am glad now so will have many more hours of stuff to watch in the future.

Well that's good I do not have to slap myself. As I never heard of that , Thank you Eric

I will look this up and see if is something I need ...... god I hope not.

David
In California NAS can stand for to things, network attached storage. or it can stand for Naval Air Station (base) I’m sure Chris was talking about the server.

Two and a Half Men. My favorite for running in the background, watch it all the time. My Beagle is named Harper after Charlie Harper.

Dave
I'm with you Dave, we watch it daily, and have a choice of 2 channels that have it on at the same time, (it used to be 3 channels a year or so ago). We could do the dialogue for every show, as I'm sure you can. That is from every show with Charlie. The shows after he left suck, and the writing went south.
It's amazing what they got away with for a show that was on so early in prime time. Charlie screwed up a good thing for a lot of people. Oh, well, That's showbiz!

Thanks Brian , yes I missed it the other night also. So I went searching and could only find clips.
Or on peacock..... dam
Loved the Lainey Wilson and Marty Stuart part . He has not changed in years at all. I remember seeing him in concert over 30 years ago up here. Great picker and player. And he loved Johnny Cash a lot.

David
I hope you find a way to watch. I watching the last half. Really enjoying most of it.

I forgot this was on the other night and missed it.. So off to Peacock I went and watched it last night.. Was kinda bummed out they never honored the greatest (IMO) country singer/songwriter of all times...

MERLE HAGGARD (The Hag)
Finished watching are you right. No mention of MERLE HAGGARD. There are so many great people out there. I wish Texas would get their own Opry. We have so many great artist that Nashville kind of ignores.

They have Austin City Limits... Which I like ...

There are so many great people out there.

Yup... And it's hard to pay tribute to them all in 3 hrs... Especially 100 years worth...

But to dis The Hag like that.. that aint cool...

Hell... Willie (Nelson) was sitting right there in the audience and no mention of him...

It is a really small server that runs on Linux but works with Windows.
It has 2 very large 12Terabyte hard drives to store thousands of movies/TV shows/Users data.

The two hard drives are RAID1 mirrored so if one happens to die it can be replaced without losing hundreds of hours of work converting DVD and BR to MP4 files. It also has 2 512 Gigabyte M.2 faster drives to cache the data in and out.

There is a program called Plex that can read your collection of movies and add the cover art as well as all the movie/actor info. You can install it on a laptop/computer/phone/Smart TV or a
Ruko. You can configure it to just work on your network or anywhere you have an internet connection.

It is basically a Netflix for your movie collection.

I use Plex and 2 separate drives to prevent file loss. I never got around to doing a NAS, but I'll get there someday. Also backed up my music on the drives too.

I didn't add it in the post but you can also use 4K Video Downloader to save YouTube music videos to MP4 files and add them to your collection.

For DVD movies I use WinX DVD Ripper Platinum to convert to MP4 in one process.

for BR Movies I use MakeMVK to RIP to MKV files Then Handrake to convert to MP4.

For DVD and BR TV episodes I use MakeMVK to RIP to MKV files then use Handrake to convert each episode to a MP4 file.

Previously I have done this with the most compression for travel to view on a laptop or phone. Now I have started over and use the best quality available within reason so it can be watched on any device but will not look anything but perfect on my 82" TV.

Now that I have the NAS I have the storage space available to hold my whole collection with the best possible quality settings. So far I am about 1/5 into the collection with over 200 movies and well over 400 TV episodes. Also about 50 Music videos.

The cost of the NAS as I have it setup is around $660. Since I cut off the DirecTv it will only take about 3 months to even that out. It has been longer than that since I canceled it so I am ahead.

Most of the above programs I have paid for lifetime subscriptions after testing them out. Just like this site it was worth paying up when you appreciate what you are getting.

I forget which site and their rulez so I didn't post that type of info. But yes, makemkv and handbrake work well. 4Kdownloader works well too.

I have even held google drive availability viewing for certain files for the masses.

I wanted to do all that with my 500 DVDs when I had my theater and 120” screen. Now that I’m down to a 75” it hasn’t seemed worth the effort, and donated 95% of them. Spending more time with music than TV these days.

I'm really getting into Dark Winds right now. It's about a tribal police officer investigating some supernatural murders and an armored car heist on the Navajo reservation in 1971.
I have a good friend who is Navajo (Diné), and she says the Native American actors are butchering the Diné language.
