Lyrics

'Got on a plane in Fresco and got off in Vietnam.
I walked into a different world, the past forever gone.
I could have gone to Canada or I could have stayed in school.
But I was brought up differently. I couldn't break the rules.

Thirteen months and fifteen days, the last ones were the worst.
One minute I kneel down and pray And the next I stand and curse.
No place to run to where I did not feel that war.
When I got home I stayed alone and checked behind each door.

Still in Saigon
Still in Saigon
I am Still in Saigon in my mind!

The ground at home was covered with snow. And I was covered in sweat.
My younger brother calls me a killer and My daddy calls me a vet.

Everybody says that I'm someone else That I'm sick and there's no cure.
Damned if I know who I am. There was only one place I was sure

When I was
Still in Saigon
Still in Saigon.
I am still in Saigon in my mind!

Every summer when it rains, I smell the jungle, I hear the planes.
I can't tell no one I feel ashamed. Afraid someday I'll go insane.
That's been ten long years ago and time has gone on by.

But now and then I catch myself
Eyes searchin' through the sky.

All the sounds of long ago will be forever in my head.
Mingled with the wounded's cries and the silence of the dead
'Cause I'm

Still in Saigon
Still in Saigon
I am still in Saigon in my mind

I have gone deep into the Billy Strings rabbit hole recently. In addition to being a fabulous player, he's a great interview, and to see him interacting with his dad is sheer joy.

New release Friday, as they slowly leak out tunes before they release a new album.

Joanne Shaw Taylor. Her drummer is Anton Fig who was with the band on David Letterman's show for a lot of years. And producer Kevin Shirley, whose produced albums for Led Zep and many others, and produces all of Joe Bonamassa .

And another release from Samantha Fish

For the Allman Bro's style fans out there, ever checked out any Government Mule with Warren Haynes? Seeing the posts about Greg Allman made this pop in to my mind. I carry mostly tracks from The Deep End Vol 1 and 2; that about covers enough for me. I carry hard mp3 files and have compilated my best of the best folder over 20-30 years and beyond, going back to ripping CD's back in the day. I still cant get myself to pay fees for Spotify and some of my mix isn't even in there. I have stuff I took off of web sites that never made it to release that few have even heard.

Anyway, classic blues rock sound...at least used to be, who knows what they sound like now, I haven't gotten in to it. I kind of fade out with blues after a while unless its live, it all begins to blend in to one homogeneous sound for me like some other genres. This is one of my favorite songs if theirs because I'm a rock guy, on the harder side. This is the best live recording of this on YouTube I found, only tainted by some idiot running his mouth in the background (dont you hate when people do that in the middle of show? STFU!). They have much more classic blues rock, this song is a bit of an outlier. The album version is very good.

People who talk during the music should be hit beside the head with a broken beer bottle. Saw / recorded Government Mule last year in New Orleans at Daze Between Festival during Jazzfest weekend. Excellent show with Chuck Leavell, Karl Denson and Grace Potter sitting in

My favorite Govt Mule album, was their live album covering Pink Floyd called " Dark Side of the Mule " . It was a 2008 concert in Boston on Halloween. Back in that day, Mule would cover a band on Halloween in a complete concert, sort've like putting on a costume.

Potter is almost a regular with the Mule.

I was watching Clapton's Unplugged video on Paramount, and Chuck Leavell was on keyboards. Sort've surprised me.

Since the early 80s, I've seen AC/DC nine times. LOL
I kinda want to get up to Vegas to see them one last time, but I kinda don't want to see them all old as well. My wife made me take her up to Sacramento a week or two ago to see Heart, one of the sisters was literally singing from a wheelchair. They didn't sound very good to me at all, but my wife had fun, as she's never seen them. I saw them in their prime 3 to 5 times. They used to sound great together back in the 80s & 90s. Her guitar playing still sounded awesome, but their voices at 70+ yrs old just couldn't hit those highs like they once did. The crowd was funny as hell, everyone was old, (like us). I was taking over under bets with my wife at how many broken hips were gonna happen with all the stairs at Golden 1 stadium. :emoji_laughing:

I would say do it. If you go to see the older artists expecting to see them at their peak you will be disappointed but if the artists are performing out of joy and the crowd is loving it then it's great.

Some bands do a better job than others at it too. Seeing Willie Nelson in his 90s or Buddy Guy in his mid 80s is still loads of fun because they are enjoying every minute as much as the crowd. If its just a money grab, coubt me out though.

If I had scored a ticket to the final Black Sabbath show I would have gone. The Rolling Stones had planned to tour and that was one reason to plan my Europe trip. As it stands I was at their final show until then play again. I am looking forward to seeing Neil Young 4 times in Europe this summer because he wants to be there and if he pulls off a free show in Ukraine I have to be there to record it which makes 5.

I was in the Ticket Master cue for Sabbath, until I found out how much the tickets they had left cost. I hung up instantly. W.Nelson and B.Guy are still amazing. I watched a clip of Angus rehearsing for the upcoming shows, I was pretty shocked at how well he sounded, and was moving around. B.J's voice sounded a little weak, and Angus's guitar playing was a lot slower, but they still sound like AC/DC.:emoji_metal:

That kid is a total savant, it's not fair at all, how talented some of these players are. I'm a complete hack, which is why I play so much metal. LOL!!!
I have Fred Flinstone hands, I hand great Bass player hands, short fat fingers are not a blessing for guitar players, although there are some amazing player with way worse hands than mine, but they are talented, and I'm not even close to having natural talent, I have to work extremely hard to get things down, there is absolutely zero natural ability with me. LOL
I know that I'll never be a great guitar player, but hope to some day be a decent player. It almost caused me to quit many times over until I decided to just have fun with it and see where it takes me yrs down the road. To this day, I rarely play in front of others unless I know them.

Is it just me or does Angus Young always look like he's chewing on air? I became a teenager in '78. ACDC was a blessing to a teen boy trying to play rock guitar. Full chords, no shifty special tuning. Highway to Hell was the album I had and I could play it all...of course if you could play one, you play them all!

A lot like 2112 by Rush a couple years earlier. I didn't get in to that until probably 1980 when I was at a house party (during school, we ruined it for everybody going forward in the 80's...and I dont mean disco:emoji_angry:) and the local band of kids from school played 2112/Overture/Temples of Syrinx to a "T". I decided THAT was the benchmark for whether you could play guitar (I was 15). Once I learned that, the rest of the album opened up like a book to me. You could impress all the kids at that point.
