My very first concert at Rochester (NY) War Memorial... 1977 or 78

During the era I just mentioned, bands were notorious for sucking live. Fugghetabout going to see Aerosmith, you would only be disappointed. So much drugs and alcohol (and sex), everything was a sloppy blur.

But REO Speedwagon (and Rush) were the exception. At least in my limited world. Back then available music was the albums you saved your money for, radio and other kid's records.

I always said I was born a decade too late and never wanted to be a kid. When I was a little kid, I would stand with my stuffed animal clutched in front of the TV, fascinated by the long haired hippies...THAT'S what I wanted to be! I was allowed to stay up late in the summer with the old black and white TV my parents let me have and watch Don Kirshner's Rock Concerts...then rush to the TV after the Air Force jet and national anthem to turn it off before the ever frightening dead-air static came on! No remotes back then of course...

I totally missed out on Woodstock and the '68-'78 era (except some late night TV) and didn't really circle back to that music until I was older. I was probably 30 before a friend of mine educated me that Sammy Hagar came up from Montrose! Rock Candy, baby!

I feel bad for ya … I saw plenty of bands in the 70’s that were great shows, and tix were dirt cheap (how about Springsteen, Billy Joel, Chick Corea, and many more for maybe $3 at college, a bit more in town). I was a tad young for getting to Woodstock, but tuned in thanks to my big sister who had me listening to Hendrix, Dylan, Joplin, Airplane while friends still into bubblegum. Thanks Sandy!

This one is making its rounds in my head again. I seem to always have a soundtrack running in my head, sometimes its annoying because it's a song I do NOT want in my head.

This one is real chill. I'm mostly a hard rock guy but I think I won the "Friction Baby" CD along with others on a radio call-in contest many moons ago and actually liked it. Have to tear off half of my man card to admit it, but it's quality, kind of feel good music.

Saw Eric couple years ago, he opened for Sam Fish. Was not expecting an opening act and when he walked on stage, I thought, who was this guy ? And then he proceeded to rock the house with that Les Paul. He's from New Orleans.

Blues Rock Review really likes his new album ...

Right now I'm listening to Tygers of Pan Tang and Praying Mantis.

If you're into the New Wave of British Heavy Metal these two bands are right there with Maiden and Saxon.

WOWWWWWW..... I couldn't wait any longer.. Just watched the whole thing...

By far... BY FAR ... THE BEST video in this whole thread... That was totally awesome... Thanks for posting Keith... I've not seen that before...

Y'all can't tell me they (Skynyrd) weren't the best band out there... Not one bad song did they do...

BTW... Did I mentioned I like them ??

I didn’t realize there are 2 music threads so I’ll cross post over here if that’s ok. This song reminds me of the indie rock bands my husband and I followed around when we were in college
