Just in case you didn't know, distilled spirits have no carbs. They have around 100 calories per 1.5 oz, but it's a myth that distilled spirits are loaded with sugars, etc..
We were on the low carb train for around 4-5 years I guess it was and we both lost 40lbs before we cried uncle and had a real pizza. It took me some weeks to look around and quit assuming to discover I was wrong about having to give up booze.
Sure, beer, wine and fortified liquor like Kahlua, etc. with added sugars are not good for a low carb diet (I'm talking keto, which is trying to be in actual ketosis, like 25 grams or less net a day), but if you like bourbon, for instance, if you allow for the calories in your plan, it's totally keto...with no carby mixers! Of course getting a buzz can make you break down and eat something you shouldn't! If you have willpower when you are drinking and stay away from the carby foods, you are good.
I was never really a big sugary soda drinker and only like a couple beers at a sitting (always bloated me) so it wasn't that hard for me. Even today, allowing more carbs, I still usually drink vodka, with a couple dribbles of lime juice and carbonated water (I have a soda Stream) over the rocks before dinner; then bourbon/whiskey after dinner. I might drink 400-1,000 calories a day (I really like my bourbon), but aside of that taste of lime juice, nearly no carbs from alcohol usually. I DO splurge on some beer or wine on occasion because we are "off the wagon" with carbs generally.
Unless you only drank/drink carby alcoholic beverages, there is no reason to not have "alcohol" if you like "alcohol".
It’s Friday night and you’re feeling alright. Whether you’re ready to dance the night away with a cocktail in your hand, or have a drink at home, this post breaks down the carbs in alcohol.
