Found great deals this weekend. First up found whole strip loin for $3.49 / lbs. Only bought one but should likely have got more. If they aren't tender I can always grind them with some fat.

Trimmed it up and cut it into 3 finger thick steaks.

Next up green beans from the local Mennonite produce stand. $8 for these.

Into the 17" cast iron pan with Minors chicken stock. Made up 8 cups as I'll cook down repeatedly.

At the same place I got the strip loin I scored a 10lbs. bulk box of SMP bacon for $25. Chopped and cooked about 1 1/2 lbs along with a couple onions I had on hand. Added to the beans.

Stirred in and cooked down repeatedly for well over an hour. Ready to eat.

So good! I can make meals out of these only. Shared a bunch so actually working on a second batch from more beans I went back and grabbed. I also scored a huge flat of mixed green and yellow zucchini. I have big plans for it tomorrow. Thanks for looking.

Nice score on the meat, beans, and zucchini.
Those beans look great.
I agree, sometimes just veggies make a great meal. Did I say that out loud on a BBQ forum?

Yessir, there's a fair amount of bacon fat in these. I partially cook the bacon, add the onions and cook to soften. I spoon it ont other beans with a slotted spoon but still get a lot of the grease in it too.
