MarketPlace find, now what?

It's a nice one.

New GBS grate and Weber Temp Controller. Ash sweeps and charcoal grate are in very good condition.

Oh, it came with this too.

OnlyFire Grill Extender.

No rotisserie ? You got ripped off dude .
Lol . I don't know what you paid , but nice set up . Is that lid factory hinged ?

I didn't know only fire sold an extender . Cajun bandit stopped awhile ago .
Nice find .

Sweet, looks brand new! I wonder what would possess someone to part with it? I love a kettle, so versatile. If I only had 1 grill or smoker, a kettle it would be.

Thanks Rich. I have a rotisserie, no hinge, DE code (2009). I gave three bills for the whole shabang.

Wow great find 😍 Colin!
Now get busy!

Keith
Thanks Keith, I've been playing with it this evening with the ball game on the patio. First thing was to clean the lid lip to install lava lock gasket. Damn, that was easy, hardly any crud at all. Thermo may need replaced but we will see when I fire it up.
Got a shooting match tomorrow morning and grandson BD party afternoon. Church chili cook-off for Sunday. Hopefully I fit it all in. Yep, I'm busy.

I hope you feel guilty! :emoji_blush:
Not really... look to be in great shape!
Thanks Ryan, it really is nice. I've always wanted a Platypus but when they were new they were expensive and used ones in good shape are hard to find. I guess I just fell into this one. My plan was to have a kettle dedicated to that new griddle insert. I think this will work.

You stole that . Great find .
So the lid just tips into the bail ?
How does that lid work with the stacker ?
Thanks again, Rich.
It doesn't have a bail like a Performer or Master Touch.
Here the lid is down and you can see the roller and metal tab that the lid rests against when open. I put the lava lock gasket material on the tabs to not scratch the lid porcelain.

This pic is with the lid up and hooked in another tab lower on the bowl.

The lid fits the Onlyfire top lip very well. Especially now that the lid has a felt gasket.

I'm sure the previous owner was trying to make a better smoker out of his kettle. Thanks for asking about it.

I like the long handle and the vent placement . A 26 " could benefit from that .
I know the lid fits the stacker , just wondering how you get it on and off ?
Front handel and the lid vent , or is there a second handel ?

Oh, now I know what you mean, no second handle so you would be correct. One hand on the handle and the other on the top vent or the back of the lid with a glove on.
After playing with this a bit it's my opinion that the Platypus is just too tall to work well with the extender. It's even a little taller than my Performer. An Original Kettle Premium would work a lot better for the lower height and top mounted lid handle. So, I don't see myself doing much with the OnlyFire Grill Extender. The WSM is a far better smoker.

I need to rant a little bit. The Weber Temp Controller that came with this grill is a joke. It works, but the quality is NOT there. Anyone that would give $99 for that needs to have their head examined. The Weber Low & Slow for $79 is a much better choice. There, I'm done.
