I have a Weber kettle 22". Is it normal to see "flakes" underneath the lid? Normal? Cause? Thank you in advance.

Are you using it as a smoker? Is it paint flakes or built up grease flakes.

This is quite normal and is a build up of smoke deposits and tars from the charcoal/wood.. Just get a soft wire brush and brush them off every couple of smokes.

If you don't brush them off they tend to drop down on the food.
