Hey friends. Just bought my first grill that cost over $500. Weber ep 310. All stainless grates and flavoriser bars. First cook was a pair of ribeyes for me and the fiancée. Brushed them in olive oil and seasoned with salt and pepper. After cooking I noticed the greats were discolored. I followed webers cleaning instructions by warming grill and using a stainless bristle brush . Cleaned the bits of meat off but am disappointed the grates are not shinney. Any tips on how to clean good and make shine like new ?

Which model is it? Genesis s310 stainless? Or did you get the spirit 310?

When you first started it up what was your process?

I bought the genesis 310 ep. Same as the regular 310 e but with stainless grates and flavorizer bars. When I fistt for grill home I lit it on high heat for about 20 minutes. Then out in in med low for about 1 hour to burn anything off that might be on grill. The next night I lit grill on high. Prepared steaks. After about 15 minutes on high I tossed steaks on at 600 degrees. When I took them off I let grill run for another 29 minutes to burn off the crap . Let grill cool over night. Next day I brushed grill but could not get off the black stuff on grates

So you have a colored unit with stainless grates and burners? I'm guessing that this black stuff your talking about is oils from who ever put it together that got burnt into the stainless. Weber has great customer service and warranty with their products I would give them a call (even today you could)

The ep model is designed for the mom and pop store's so not to familiar with it. We sell the e310 and s310 along with the spirits and summits where I work.

Hope this helps a little. If your able to post a pictures I would like to see how much of the areas are covered in this black stuff and what it looks like.

I think it's burnt olive oil . It was nice and shiney till I cooked on it. I don't think its problem with grill , just wanting to know if you can get them looking like new again with regular scraping or do I need to use weber grate cleaner or some other kind of cleaner .

I've had customers purchase both the weber grate and grill cleaner and are very happy with it. Worth the try I would say. We just got our stack out of grate and grill cleaner in.
