High end doesn't always guarantee low maintenance. My friend bought a Sub-Zero fridge and a Viking range, and has had numerous problems with them both.
thats odd, our old house had a 20+ year old Subzero we had a couple things fixed, then on a renovation replaced it. Solid as a rock. Same house came with a very unloved Viking that worked great, same reno, replaced with a Wolf, zero issues.

What model on the washer did you get? I am on my 3rd since 1997 here and this one is banging and shaking (whirlpool) even though I replaced the shocks. It might be the plastic hub is cracked, I have the part (metal) but can't break the tub free. I have tried all the youtube tricks and it is still stuck.
We bought these models:
TR5003WN
DR3003WE

The 5 year old GE washer we had squealed like a runover pig, went out of balance and slammed against itself endlessly...so loud and unreliable.

the SQ is so nice! so happy for the thread on here that started me onto them.

going to try and find one near me.

$1299 for the TR5003WN seem right?
Not sure which SQ we bought, but in the same price range.
Wife hated it at first until it taught her how the machine works. She loves it now.
You can hear the Whirlpool in our Florida unit even in wash mode. Spin out the neighbors hear it too.
SQ is whisper quite in wash and barely noticeable in spin.
I was referred to SQ by local business that used to sell appliances and services all brands.

Same experience here. Couple days ago I started it and was watching TV and thought it stopped - ran downstairs, all good and all quiet! Man the old POS was so loud...and all the stupid beeps. We love our SQ! My wife was skeptical, till she used it, now it just love.

Back on the water filter. I emailed GE for the part # on the bypass, they are mailing one for free. Kinda surprised me.

I want to go back to the Woder inline filter. I used this before, great water filter with good pressure and they last a year. Summer project.

I got my plug this time. Next time ready to change filter I will go with a external.

Amazing the crap that comes in with the water, filter protects the water valves on some of them and not on others, it sure slowed down the water valves replacements when they all come out with them.

Perhaps tied to some kind of lawsuit?
