I am building a walk in cooler to store deer in. The small town where I am working has no deer storage available. I may also make another to place in the neighboring town, as they have no such facilities either. I will try to keep this updated with the stages of construction. I am planning on a 4' X 8' X 7.5'. Here are pictures of the I beam for skids, c-purlin, and angle iron for the construction. Also a door and the ac unit for cooling.

Very cool I'll be watching this one close I really need a walk in

Thanks, I knew I would have to make some mods to the AC or purchase one of these http://www.storeitcold.com. Either way the temp has to come down to about 35* for me to be happy. I sure may need your help.

Goat, that is going to be great! Looking forward to seeing how you build this. You always come up with such interesting/useful builds.

Yer a good man Ken

Hmm it has a sensor that goes on the AC evap/cooling and one on the thermo sensor. Is there an override in these AC units that switches to fan only depending on the temps at these two places? A "I can't get the coil any cooler now, so I'll just run the fan and not compressor" thing? I'm betting the thing attached to the temp sensor is a hunk of that solid state heat/cool stuff. It's there to "fool" the integral AC unit controls.

Someone with more HVAC knowledge than I should call with them. What I got this morning was that coolbot cycles the ac, 10 minutes on and 1 minute off. I don't know what else transpires.

Man, that thing would make one heck of a pop cooler!!

Here ya go Ken

"CoolBot is completely robust. It's 100% Made In The USA to withstand farm-style abuse in the harshest of environments. If anything goes wrong in the first year, we'll replace your CoolBot immediately. After that if anything goes wrong (though it shouldn't!) CoolBot parts are modular and designed to be completely field-repairable; we'll send you replacement parts at cost+shipping to swap in and get you back up and running in no time."

Do you think this thing would work in our kinda heat if we used the 4" of foam insulation. It sure would make a walk in cooler easier for me.

Thanks for checking further into that Ken. My 4' X 8' will be a little smaller than the 6' X 8' they say requires a 10,000 btu ac. I will have a little edge there. I also will have at least 5" of styrofoam insulation. That will give me a little more edge. For $14, I got an extra year of warranty on the ac at Sam's Club. That makes 2 years coverage on it. Hopefully all will work like it is supposed to. We will soon see and it will be documented with pics here.

Progress is slowly being made. I should start up tomorrow if it does not rain more.

Pick-up is loaded after the latest trip to Lowes. The cab is full also. I also have received my Cool-Bot. Good service, 2 days.

I just had to drag the calculator out and it looks like I have $1885 in this project. That should be it with the exception of some trim.

Yes I'm really looking forward to how this turns out good luck with the rest of the build.
