I have some friends coming over Friday night for wings & beer.

Normally I smoke the wings & crisp them up on a hot grill.

Then toss them in a mix of Frank's & melted butter.

This time I wanted to try out my new Vortex.

So I did a trial run last night with a few wings.

I decided to just rub them with Owens BBQ Buffalo wing rub.

A bottle of it came for free with my Vortex.

I only took a couple of photo's cause the wings got done really quick.

I took out 7 wings for the test, 3 for Judy & 4 for me.

Got the Vortex going. Gosh that thing gets really hot.

Put the wings on & as soon as I put the lid on the lid temp went way over 700 degrees.

When I checked them in about 5 minutes the oven therm was reading 450.

The handle on the kettle lid got so hot I had to use welding gloves to take it off.

The wings only took about 22 minutes to get done.

I have to say this will be my go to method for wings from now on.

The skin was super crispy & the meat was still very juicy.

We didn't put any sauce on them, other than a little blue cheese.

They didn't need anything but the rub.

I may put a little more rub on the next time to kick it up a notch, but that's the only thing I would do different.

I should have bought one of these things a long time ago.

Have a Safe & Happy New Year!

Looks great all, but the vortex isn't just for wings.

I use mine all the time.

Hey Jay, I know I've been looking at the threads with these things in them & just had to give it a try.

It's quite a gadget. Simple, but boy does it work!

Thanks Buddy!

Thanks Danny,

She just wolfed them down, usually she may eat 2 or sometimes 3 wings.

This time I think she would have eaten the whole plate!
