Hello guys!

I'm new here, just got my first semi decent charcoal/wood offset smoker. But I've immediately thought about making it more versatile and I know this question might be a little bit far from the smokers basic intention.
But I was wondering did anyone managed to get some removable gas burners into main chamber for the times when you don't want to burn coal or wood when used as normal grill?
My main concern is where to put venturi valve would be OK if it's inside, enough oxygen?
Did anyone tried this?

*Also I didn't know in which subforum should I post wood/charcoal/ or propane so I've put it here in general discussion.

Maybe I should just repost this in some of equipment sub-forums.

I think your idea is interesting and could definitely add versatility for grilling without needing to burn coal or wood. As for the venturi valve, it’s crucial to ensure it has enough oxygen for combustion, so placing it inside the main chamber could work, but you'd need to make sure there’s proper airflow and venting for safety and efficient operation. It's definitely worth exploring, but I’d recommend consulting with experts who have experience modifying smokers.

So after a few months of collecting diy yt videos and calculating the right holes to air intake at venturi valve ratio, making list of what all i need to buy, what tools to use,... I've stumbled upon already made up paella burner (9,1kW) that fits really nicely into half of main chamber of my grill and suddenly my offset hot&cold smoker/charcoal grill/skewer just got another function - as a "gas grill with hot and not so hot zone". I can use it with solid plate as seen on one of the pictures or with grates. I've had the stainless steel protection made on laser cutter and somehow without any adjustments all the distances are like in regular gas grills, it's easy to clean and deflects temperature evenly so round shape is fine. The intake and valve are neatly poking out from side door and It takes me less than a minute to change it into a gas grill and vice versa.
I am really happy with final result.
those paella burners are made in several diameters so it could fit your grill to.
I've added some other pictures so you can see how versatile one grill can get.
