using cedar to smoke trout?

any opinions on using cedar to smoke trout?  it is either cedar or hickory.

I have some of the very thin cedar planks (almost paper thin).  I think hickory might be too strong. 
 
Cedar is ok for planking, but it is resinous and not recommended for Smoking... Hickory is quite strong. Which ever you choose use a small amount and for a small amount of time, 1-2 hours tops...JJ
