Here's the smoke generator I'm buildin fer the sausage smoker.

Looks sorta familiar eh? I figure why buy somthin ya can build?

I hot wired the heatin element an gave it a test run. So far it will pull 225° an maintain it. Thats higher then I need fer the sausage, bacon an hams. Looks like the element is a go.

Wanna finish up wirin an get the smoke generator mounted next weekend.

And NO its not GALVANIZED pipe!

Now I will need one of those for my low temp smoker. That looks like piece of muffler pipe to me. So I guess I will check in next weekend for step #3

The iron pipe plumbs inta the side a the smoker. There gonna be a screen in the bottom a the pipe, ya fill the pipe with wood chips an wood pellets, pull the bottom an top caps, use a torch ta get the wood goin.

When it starts smokin good, ya add the caps back on an open the valve. There gonna be a fish tank pump that pumps air in through the bottom cap an inta the smoker.

That valve is there case I wanna stop the smoke before it burns up the contents a the generator. The pipe union makes it easier ta remove fer cleanin.

This way ya don't have to count on the heatin element ta burn the wood cause that's gonna cycle on an off ta maintain some very close temps fer sausage, bacon an hams.

That's the reason this smoker is electric, tight temp control. Only way to make real good sausage an such.

Been there done that. You do not need the valve. Pipe diameter is too small to feed chips well. Assume you will be fitting an airpump to "feed" the bottom end with air. Best of luck.
