I have a PS3 and about every game worth playing. Also have Xbox One. I usually limit my purchase price for a game to $20 which means I buy most of them used or on sale. Most the Xbox games I been buying have been digital. Seems like most of the games on the newer console's are the same as the old ones? Since I not going to pay $60 for a game is there any reason to upgrade to PS5 or Xbox-X for those of you that have one?

Wish I would have known you were in the market. I just gave away a brand new Xbox, wireless controllers and a headset for free after only playing it once

Not much of a gamer here, but I DO still play Tiger Wood's 2008 for a round almost every evening on an XBox-360. I've beaten everything to compete for on the game...but I just love the game-play. I've tried subsequent versions of the game and other golf games and none are as good as 2008. In fact the last time I looked around, most new games were not serious golf games, but cartoonish for children, and the serious games were bieng reported as ridiculously hard to the point of hating the game for many people.

I've thought about upgrading but would have to do some research, like you, on whether its actually worth it. The last thing I need is to be enabled online for playing again. I lost portions of my life playing Quake2 back in the day. I would make excuses for leaving work early, go home, draw the curtains and start drinking and playing in the afternoon and have to tear myself from the computer at 3AM to get a couple hours sleep!

I give myself an hour or so nowadays, that's it. I have stuff to do!

No help here as I'm a PC gamer. I upgrade every 2-3 years whether I need to or not just in case. When I do I usually make sure it's the current top or 2nd ranked Nvidia video card. I always get 32 ram or more

The Performance of the GPU's on the XBox-X and PS5 make a huge difference even on older games. The XBox-S is good but go with the X if you go that route.

My kids also get GamePass which gives them access to tons of games they can download and play if your wifi is good.

Brian are you familiar with the CDKEYS site? I buy a lot of discounted PC games there. They also sell the console game codes too. Totally legit.

That kind of what I was thinking. The PS5 is not backwards compatible but the Xbox-X is.

My Oldest Son bought both and has pretty much abandoned the PS5

I think I go with the Xbox. I doubt these go on sale often. I probable order through Sam's as they easy to replace within a year if needed. Looks like about $450. Thanks for the help Brian.

Just remember that the white series X is a digital console. Has no disk drive. The Black Series X has the disk drive.

Do you viy things on disk often? I haven't bought a game for my PC on disk in many years. Mostly Steam store and some on Epic Games

Another PC gaming guy. I am upgrading all the computers to Windows 11 right now. Of course I had to upgrade my MB and graphics card while I was at it. Then I moved the components to my wife's PC and upgraded it. The garage one is last but It did not have a TPM chip in it. Luckily it has a spot on the MB to add one.

When I was playing on console it was XBOX.

I can’t help you Brian as we have both the Xbox one and X. If this helps the X will plan 4K discs…… a 4k game on a 89 inch with Atmos is an experience! My son hooked up his Alienware to the TV and we played hell divers on the big screen on split screen……epic!

I can't stop with Red Dead Redemption 2. The gameplay and graphics are the best of any game ever. I originally was playing it on an XBOX ONE X but when it came out on PC that is when I changed over to PC completely.

I have upgraded my PC a few times over the last 10 years just to get the graphics to the best they can be when playing this game.

I now am using a Nvidia 4070 UC video card with Intel CPU I7-3700K with 64GB of RAM.

I can now run the games at full 4K video with all the options at max power.

The side benefit is all my older games are more enhanced from doing this upgrade.

Assassins Creed Odyssey and Valhalla, Far Cry 5 and more.

Now you have me re-thinking this. My pc is hooked to the TV. I guess you use a controller like a Xbox? I guess I will take a look a look at gaming pc but really would not want to spend much more than a $1000. Could go $1500 if I really need to. Looking at some videos on what to buy and my head is spinning. I really have no clue about these.
