UNHAPPY WITH MASTERBULT SMOKER

    I received a Masterbuilt electric smoker for my birthday I didn't open it right away, but when I did I tried to preseason it .

    The control unit did not work correctly so I called Masterbuilt, they sent me a copy of all the missing paperwork that should have been in the box. But will not work with me about the faulty control unit because I don't have the receipt, my wife can't find it. So now I have a smoker that works for about 30 minutes then quits. I followed the trouble shooting guide in the owners manual, it says to call Masterbuilt to request a new unit, ALOT OF GOOD THAT DID ME!!!! I will not recommend their equipment to anyone!!!

    Call again..they usually take care of any issues that I have seen.

    If you paid cash then the receipt is what you need but if you paid by credit card a copy of your statement or cancelled check may do.

    Since you have had no luck with the Chinese made stuff....   Try American Made...  The Sausage Maker has very good smokers...   They have real people to help you with any problems from smoking to sausage making when you phone them....    They carry spare parts for all their stuff...  I have purchased their stuff and I am very happy with the products and service.....

    Below is a smoker I recommend...  If you have questions PM nepas...   he has been smoking for about 30 years and just purchased this unit....

    My MES smokers are awesome, I have never had any problems for quite a few years, sorry to hear you got a bad one..

    I have a combined 15 years of Great service out of my 3 MES units.

    And all I hear is how great their CS is.

    Call again, and explain the situation. I've seen them help people out a number of times after their Warranty had run out.

    My Son has the same problem with his receipts, So Mrs Bear has him give them to her, so they don't get lost.

    BTW: The 30 lb Digital Country style smoker from Sausagemaker is $1,000, and it's temp range is only from 50° to 200°.

    If this was a recent purchase, how about your wife going back to the store and see if she can find the store rep who helped her with the purchase.  Maybe they can give her another receipt.  Yes, this shouldn't have to be done but maybe it will require this extra step.

    I think your situation is very strange.

    I have never heard anything but good things about MB customer service.

    There are many alternatives to the MES: Smoke Hollow, Old Smokey, Smokin-it, Cookshack, SmokinTex to name just a few.
