So, I'm pretty sure I already know the answer to my questions, but I have to ask to make sure.

I bought some frozen chicken wings/drumsticks yesterday and had them in the sink to thaw, as I was planning on smoking them today.  Ohh, we wake up this morning and realize the we never put them in the fridge and they have been out since we purchased them.  These are bad and need to be tossed, correct?

Did you check the temp ???  were they still frozen ??? probably not....  Pitch 'em.... cheaper than a trip to the ER....   Dave

Yeah, they are being pitched.  IT had to be greater than 50 degrees for the past several hours.

Chunk-em in garbage and get some new ones...One of my cousins got sick on "bad" chicken a few years back. He recovered but was in the hospital for 2 days. He was probably 28 yrs old when it happened...I smell EVERY piece of meat when I'm getting ready to wash it, season it, cook it, or whatever...Regardless of the "sell-by" date, I Always use my nose. I also rinse-off every piece of meat in cold running water before cooking it...

Just to add my two cents to the already great advice:  a few bucks worth of chicken is far less than the cost of medical treatment and your reputation. You may get someone so sick they won't eat and tell others to avoid you.

Oh, it got tossed!  I wasn't going to risk it!  I will never risk any meat, there would be nothing worse than having someone getting sick on the food that I have prepared and cooked for them.

I don't mess with raw chicken, however I made buffalo chicken ABT's that sat in the microwave all night and was so pissed when I found them the next day that I ate one.

you made a good choice to toss.
