Did a tri tip tonight and ever since I bought Hardcore carnivore black thanks to tnjake I’ve been hooked. My wife on the other hand is taking some convincing. So I did a tri tip half and half. Half with hardcore and half with SPOG. Both sides turned out great. Cooked to 125* with my inkbird and let rest. (Maybe a little too long while Mac n cheese was finishing. But both sides were good. My wife made some chimichurri sauce with it and it was good go to. A little hickory and it was right on par.

@TNJAKE should work for that company, I bought the rub on his recommendation as well and love it! That tri tip looks awesome!

Looks good from here. What was your preference between the two as a side-by-side? I use to use a lot of hickory, but have found oak and cherry mixed to be preferable with tri tip. Or just straight oak, more traditional. Give it a whirl and see what it does for the flavor profile. I cook a lot of TT, never use store bought rubs (for anything), but might check out that HCB since there are a lot of great reviews on it here.

Thanks guys. It was good.

I was the same was as you but since I tried this it’s all I’ve used on beef. Will probably never make a steak without it again. Unless I don’t have any.

Dang they both look fantastic!
I like mine a bit more rare, but yours sure look tender & juicy for sure!
Nicely done!!
