Hey everyone!  Looking to smoke a turkey here in the next month or so, and been reading that you cannot fit a big turkey in an MES 30".  Is that true?  If you can, how big of a turkey can you fit in?

JonnyG

That's true.  How small?  How big?  12 pound turkey a piece?

It's not just whether or not a Turkey fits in a Smoker. It's also whether you & your smoker can get it from 40° IT to 140° IT in no longer than 4 hours. And then continue to completion. That is also why you shouldn't stuff a Turkey if you're going to smoke it.

Interesting.  Good insights.   What I want to do is figure out how small/big can I fit a turkey in a 30"

Thanks Bear!

Don't quote me on this because I sold my MES 30 a couple years ago, so I can't measure it, but I think the MES 30 & the MES 40 are the same depth.

The MES 40 is higher & wider but the same depth.

Thanks Bear! Appreciate the insight.  Have you smoked a full turkey in a 30"?

No, Sorry I have not.

Turkeys & Chickens are some of the things my Son does down at his house. We do different things & share between our houses.

I do some Chicken parts, but he does the whole birds.
