I used a WSM for many many years. A great smoker but starting to get lazy in my old age. I have finally figured out this MES40 with pellet tube. Got a fresh pork butt ham going now. I am wanting to get that Rec Tec590 but trying to justify it to myself. I live alone and the MES really does work pretty well now that I been starting out with lower temps. I guess sometimes just have to stop thinking so much and act.

I think you should do it, you deserve it! Hope that makes it easier, as I'm sure many more will chime in to help your decision!

The MES will go badcsooner or later and you will be faced with adding a PID controller and wiring it. While you wait on parts and work on it you will be completely without a way to use your pellets. Based on that it makes sense to order the Rec Tec today :)

Isn't that what money is for? It's not like you can take it with you. I toss around the idea of getting rid of my offset and copping a RecTec, not getting any younger either. RAY

Yeah sounds about right. I know once I have it will be happy. I usually buy my stuff on either Memorial Weekend on end of year. Don't guess it maters with Rec Tec?

The usually run discounts on accessories around holidays.
I got 28% during leap day in Feb.
The grills kick ass, if you have the budget, why wait.

I’ve had a traeger and a GMG Daniel Boone wasn’t happy with the huge temp swings I had with them. Bought a Rec Tec Bull and amazed how that thing runs consistent temps. Excellent customer service as well. I wish I would of spent the money in the beginning for this vs wasting money on the traeger and GMG

This MES rock solid today. One thing don't like on ink bird app when switch to another app lose my gragh and start over.

I’m 55 and have been an avid grill user since high school and use my grill or smoker 140 days a year. I’ve owned 4 other smokers and just got my Rec Tec 700 a few days ago. By far the best smoker I’ve owned and super high quality and super easy to use. Holds temperatures perfectly even when it was 18* here in northern Minnesota the other morning. Can’t recommend highly enough. The 590 is a steal at under $1000 and in the long run inexpensive when you consider the value of the food you will cook on it over a decade or two.

The first 24 hours with my Rec Tec I cooked $90 worth of ribs, $10 worth of bacon and $15 worth of chicken.

I was driving myself crazy also, Should I - Shouldn't I, Should I - Shouldn't I
Finally just got it over with and did it. Love the 590 , (so nice with Wi-Fi to be able to monitor and adjust from phone ) except the alarms are not operational yet. Talked with CS 2 days ago, said working on that yet. About 50% of owners do have alarms.
