Congrats! Our last move stressed me out. We had a full price offer on our home for sale before we had an off one one to buy. Luckily that didnt last long.

Thanks. Now we get to deal with the headache of the well testing positive for total coliform. I'm certain its just from sitting stagnant for a couple months, but time is of the essence with closing being 3 weeks away, so hoping it gets sorted out QUICKLY.

its always something. Our purchase went smooth, the sale of our old home was not so smooth. the buyer was an A** H*** and made a stink about the sewer line and it cost us 5K. Of course he never "fixed" it because it was basically fine.

Better Total Coliform than E. coli! If the well casing is intact and all looks good otherwise, well disinfection is pretty straightforward. Good luck!

Congrats on the move! Make sure all your utilities are set before the holiday weekend. Our last house we closed on Friday before 4th of July. Gas Co had removed the propane regulator on the tank, which we used for hot water. And the office was closed for the weekend. They could have come out for an emergency service call, but that was $$$. Moving in July with only cold showers was a major pita.

22 days...
That's impressively fast! It took us 14 months after I retired to clean out a too-big, too-cluttered house in NJ, sell, donate, or pack everything in it, find our new home, and move 2700 miles to North Idaho. We were working like mad on the project hat whole time. I think of it as our lost year.

Best of luck with the move, happy to hear you are much more efficient than we were!

I remember our count down well. we had 4 weeks, it was a full time job to pack and pitch. We had 17 years of crap in the house. found unopened boxes 17 years old. Donated an insane amount of stuff.

Yeah, during our cleanout, I used to joke that I was expecting Goodwill to slap us with a restraining order.

My wife has spent a month packing up our kids crap to try to get ready for a house sale and move. Yeah it isn't happening this year.

I know in a few years we'll be moving. Will have to figure out how to move 40 years of hoarding!

Faster than we had planned, but somehow things will work out. House went on the market, had an offer 3 days later $10k over asking with inspection waived...couldn't pass that up but the buyer wants to close in 30 days. Luckily the house we offered on accepted and is empty so closings worked out, its just the logistics now of getting packed and ready for a 1200 mile move.

Not sure what your moving plan is but, we rented a couple 26 ft penske trucks and hired loaders and unloaders (different group at each site-these were moving companies) and drove ourselves. Saved a ton. the loading and unloading was only a few hundred bucks and they did both ends in less than 5 hours. I would do that process again if I had to move again.

Caught this late, well, ignored it because it was too big to read at the time, but congrats on the new place! That's gotta be exciting!

As to moving, at work I handle a good bit of LTL trucking, and I am always seeing emails saying they also handle moving options for long distance. Many of the companies have at least some options for moves like yours where they supply the trailer, you load, and they take it away and drop it. Much like the PODS idea, just using a trailer and a liftgate or stairs. I've never looked into it, and the PODS at ground level would be nice for load/unload. But it's another option to check out. For instance, odmove.com is Old Dominion, one of the better (however, not cheaper) Carriers. But, in my decade of dealing with them, there's never been a claim. That is unheard of in trucking... I think ABF and FedEx Freight also do something similar. It'll be more the bigger carriers due to needing the resources to have a trailer not in motion all the time, but you might find it to be the cheapest option.

Good luck with the move!
