Morning all!
Last week I got tired of trying to find a tri-tip around here. So, I paid dearly for a Piedmontese tri-tip.

The plan was to cook it at the camp. But got busy. And forgot to thaw it out.
So, I got it thawed out after we got back yesterday. But now the weather is being a pain. High winds.
So, it got seared and roasted with some baby taters. ..

Pics not the greatest. But the meat was excellent! Even have some for lunch.

Im kind of a tri tip purist, I was appalled when my buddy said that his wife had one in the oven for us when we got home from fiehing.
She convinced me that T.T. doesn't have to cooked hot and fast over an open fire. It was one of the best T.T. meals I've ever ate.

Yours looks KILL'er, Steve.

Thanks! I normally. When I find them. Will grill hot and fast. This is the third or forth time I've done them like this. As long as you get a decent sear before putting in the oven. They come out great. I was a bit upset about putting this 75.00 piece of meat in the oven though!

$75 for a TT? Damn! I get pissed when they are over $20. At least you enjoyed it.

To me the only way to cook them is on the Santa Maria grill. Gotta go to Walmart after I drop off the niece tomorrow. I will add a tri-tip to my list.

That Piedmontese site is $$$. But the meat is the best I've found. I bought their 80oz boneless strip roast. For 137.00. I can justify that. I can get 5 meals from it.
