I'm not sure if my casings are smoke permeable, they are 1.5" clear fibrous and feel smooth, like there is a coating. In lieu or answers, I'm gonna prick them figuring what's the worst that could happen. Was just wondering if there is a list somewhere, or if someone could put it here

I mean a list of casing types, and whether they are smoke permeable or not. For instance I had some mahogany casings that I found out were not permeable.

Mahogany---not permeable

I dont know of a list.. there are so many manufactures of casings. There are mohogany colored casings theat are both permeable and nonpermeable. If I had casings that I didnt know what they were I would soak one and if it took on moisture I would say it was permeable and if it didnt I would say it was non permeable. I never done this but it would make sense to me.....

Good question and tough to answer

Hold the flat unsoaked casing up to the light, most of the time there are very small holes along or by the seam.
