Well, this will put a damper on a nice holiday weekend! Our oldest boy just called, there unit just got activated ta go to Louisiana! They are leavin tammarraw ta start down that way. Hope they get treated better then they did durin this last flood.

Ifin it ain't one thin it's another.

Sorry yall, just needed ta vent a bit.

Sorry to hear that Tip. I agree with Ken, I think things will be better this time around. Our prayers are with your family

What are we talkin here? Deja Vu all over again? or WORSE?
Jeeze.

I pray for your Son AND the once beautiful city of New Orleans.

I hope this isn't as hideous as it looks like it may be.

Wow.

Call me nuts but can't we drop a bomb down the eye of this thing and put it out of our misery?

Seems like a "relatively" cheap alternative.

your son and family has my thoughts for a safe tour. hope it weakens. i havent watched the news today but the economy doesnt need another slap in the face.

a prayer for for serenity and peace for you and your family and a prayer that your son will be safe and protected during this time. I think i will say an one for all those living on the gulf coast too.

Tip while it is sad to see them go and we all pray for them you must be very proud of him stepping up to serve our nation. It is sad that they were treated the way they were upon their return from their last deployment. All of us need to stop and think of how much our servicemen and women do for us and where we would be without them. I will be saying a little prayer for him and his unit till he gets home. Again tell him Thank You for his service and be safe.

I can't imagine how you're feeling, and I'm sure your son is feeling the same way. I feel the best thing we can get out of this is that we've learned from our mistakes, and your son will be safe.

I thank him for serving.

Sorry for your son to have to go. I am hoping things will change as I live in SE Texas right above Beaumont. I am in Africa now as best as I can tell from checking the internet that a high pressure system coming down may really hurt Gustav. I hope so, But my wife says she is ready to sky out of there if need be. God bless all our troops who step in harms way to help this country. Tell your son thanks.

Had several service men and women in the store Friday and Saturday who were deploying to the gulf this weekend, buying supplies, MP3 players, cell phones, headsets, etc. I shook their hands and made sure we all thanked them for their bravery and standing up for our nation. One soldier had just gotten back at 2 am that morning from his 6th tour in Iraq and was excited to be heading out to the gulf to help. What leadership and selfless devotion to our country!
One of the most-requested items that soldiers need are batteries to power their portable devices. Every year at Christmas time for the last 3 years we've done battery drives in stores, where people can purchase and donate packs of AA and AAA batteries and drop in a dropbox we set up. After Christmas, we collect all the dropboxes and deliver them to the USO who ship them overseas directly to the troops. If you have a USO nearby, drop off some batteries; someone overseas will thank you!

Closed the message before I had a chance to tell you Thank You! for your son's devotion to our country, and we pray for his safety and quick return!

Our prayers and thanks are with you and we will be thinking of the fine people is bravely helping as well. May all turn out safely and peacably.

He'll be fine. I think that area learned a tough lesson last time. It looks like things are progressing in an orderly fashion this time. I too am gratefull for all of our service men and women who sacrifice so much for the rest of us.

Had one of the firemen get called up for Katrina with most of the new mexico NG. he was gone well over a month..their duties it seemed was to gather, store and guard all the coffins ect that floated up.plus other task as assigned. he brought back well over 200 pics he had took and made a slide show for us..stuff that they would not show on TV.
he said if he goes again..he needs to take more insect repellent.
hope your son makes the best of it.
