This old table…..

Belonged to my great aunt who just passed at 93yrs old. She said it was her grandmothers first kitchen table. I think that makes it 130+ maybe 150 yrs old.

It was pretty fancy for the day w dado joints into the legs. The legs and base are black walnut but the top is different.

I lightly power washed it to start. I had to beef it up a little to make it solid and lightly sanded it. Then rubbed it down w butcher block conditioner

I put it in the basement with some old meat grinders on it

I’m pretty happy how it turned out.

I've done that before. Wide spray pattern and work it quick. Does two things. Releases any grime in the wood. And raise the grain to sand down smooth.

Awesome table bud . Love the old growth top . Could be Red oak .
Mortise and tenon joint for the leg / rail assembly is pretty common , but the leg taper is something you don't usually see on that type of table . Looks great , and also like the long overhang on the ends .

Meat grinder on the right is a 1940 / 42 Griswold .
One on the left is a grain mill .

Thanks all I’m real happy with it. Yes it was a very light power wash with a wide fan from almost 2 feet away just to get the muddobbers gone- Nice grinders there chopsaw.
