Is in rough shape but think it’s good steel and will make a good working knife.
Anyone got any of these?

I have a similar blade on one of my camper knives, though it is a homemade knife with a stag handle. Sharpened very, very well but I really don't have a clue as to what is specifically used for. Mine has a bit more of an arc to it maybe. Filleting fish? It is a thinnish blade but not very flexible like my other fillet knives.

Yup, a good boning knife. I have a Twin Master very similar. I much prefer a stiff blade (that I have) vs a flexible blade (that was also available when I chose the stiff).

Eaaaasy on that tape measure
I had my wet weather tapes . Just have to keep the oiled up when you put them back in the back , and save for a rainy day !
That long blade , with the slow curve is great for butchering . Get some sanding sponges from the Drywall section of the hardware store . Keeps your hand away from the blade .

I love those old carbon steel knifes, they get razor sharp, I have a drawer full of my Noni's old knifes that she used in the family restaurant. Keep it oiled up, and it will out last you and if you don't feel like oiling the wood all the time you could always ebonize it with a weed burner or torch.
Just burn it until it's nice and black, wash it off using a scrubby, let it dry for a few days then oil it, it will keep for damn near forever that way.

Nice blade!!!

Nice . Been looking for an old hickory . I had one years ago , but used it at work to cut 6 “ fire batts . That should hold a nice edge .

I recently found this old knife in my brothers things that I believe grandmother used when I was a kid. Gonna clean it up a little bit leave the nice patina in tact. View attachment 732080
I had six Old Hickory knifes from the 1940s and 50s, a 4'' to 6'' paring blade, a 10'' chefs blade, an 8'' boning/scimitar blade, and one that looked exactly like your blade and a 16'' breaking / scimitar blade, and a 12 to 14'' cleaver that we name the executer, for how many chickens, ducks, and rabbits it killed throughout the yrs. LOL!!!
The dirtbag that robbed us at our last house got a box that had a nice a leather knife roll full of my Gramp's old knifes, and honing steels in it... dirty bastard!!!
