Well i have had a smoker for a couple of years and used it occasionally for some pretty basic stuff.....then searching online i ran across this group and joined, that was less than a month ago and i have become obsessed. This realization came to me when i could no longer fit groceries in the fridge and and more beer in the beer fridge because of everything i have brining currently. Time to buy another fridge.

I feel your pain.  I used to be a mild mannered weekend smoker until I came across this forum.  Now I am willing to try cooking almost anything.  This addiction can get expensive.  Already I’ve had to buy a vacuum sealer, meat slicer, a new digital scale, and a AMNPS smoke generator.  I can’t wait until I try making sausage and learn how to cook Sous Vide.

HA! Yep, this is only the beginning!

Smoking meats is the gateway to many other addictions!

Sausage
Curing
Dry curing
Sous vide
Cheese smoking
Cheese making
Nose to Tail experiments

Oh, yes, it gets worse! :laugh1:

Welcome to the madness!

Not to mention you'll eventually want to try out different smokers. I currently have 4, plus a propane grill. I'm still looking at a pellet burner, but not sure how to get it in past the wife.

I got a coupla' grand tied up in smoking/BBQing equipment. That ain't NOTHIN' compared to some of the guys in this circus.

You'll die with a full stomach, but pennyless.

Isn't this the truth! It was the gateway to 4 out of 7 on that list for me. Now If I can just sneak the Sous Vide in without getting myself in trouble.

Hilarious glad im not the only one. Already starting to search for a slicer and some sausage equipment. My neighbor is a hunter so maybe i can borrow equipment as needed since he often requires needs to use some of my tools....but a man needs his toys

After you get all your toys Look in at the deserts (helps make Ma Happy)

Welcome to our world. No matter how much stuff you accumulate, there'll always be just one more thing you can't live without. And that's just the equipment. There's still the cost of all that meat you'll need.

Yep. And next you'll be checking the meat sales and picking up stuff just because you couldn't pass up that price. Better add a bigger freezer to go with that extra fridge.
We also have a 6' tall "Spice Cabinet" now as well...

Sounds like every hobby.....my life greatest fear is she will sell my toys for as much as i told her i paid for them. I am hooked, its best waste of time and money I've found since i retired from racing. 3 different flavours of jerky, a pizza fattie and a ham curing....thats just from the weekend. Might have to dust off the old home gym here soon.
