I have an MES 40" BT and a TP20 thermometer . The difference in readings between the two is an exact 20°. The MES is ALWAYS reading exactly 20° hotter. So if my MES is 275°, my TP20 will read 255°.

Is there anyway of calibrating the two to read the same, or even close to the same, temperature?

As far as I know there is no way to adjust or calibrate your MES. I would trust your TP for the correct temps and not the MES. Adjust your MES to whatever reading you want on your TP. My MES was 20 degrees off as well only hotter. If I set the unit to 250 the actual temp would be 270.

Thanks BD, I'll have to do some testing and make sure that the sensor is clean.

Just a thought... are you just comparing them to each other? You might want to put the TP20 in boiling water to check it’s calibration. Not familiar with the MES but ensure both temperature probes are next to each other wen comparing.

I doubt you can do anything regarding the MES probe except to contact Masterbuilt. But if the difference is a consistent 20 degrees, you are good to go. Just adjust accordingly.

big1, if you know the MES is 20* hotter(repeatably) then just go with the flow and use the MES as guide. My WSM always reads 250 and I know the actual temp is 265. So when I mow the lawn I can just look and see where the needle is and not worry or really worry.
