Two weeks ago we moved from Elk Grove, CA to Gilbert, AZ. I managed to bring along my old Weber 22 and my Pro 100 electric smoker from PS Seasonings, I smoke my own sausage, hams, and bacon. Yesterday I had a Meadow Creek offset smoker delivered to my house, my reward for moving here. I was kind of shocked at the register at the price for a little bundle of oak wood, apple was even more expensive, like $20 for a 1.2cf bundle. The ranch I used to hunt always had a limitless supply of free oak wood, and every year I'd drive 45 minutes and fill up the eight foot bed of my pickup truck with apple firewood for $100. I guess not much hardwood grows in the desert! What a man takes for granted in one place he ends up praying for in another. RAY

Yep,that stuff grows on trees around here.
The Canadians have a similar, yet different problem.Trees everywhere and no hardwoods.
