The Gambia. West Africa
Hi,
I am Ahmed Jack from the Gambia the smiling coast of west Africa 62 years old. I am 2nd Dan Black belt Shotokan Karate, President of the Gambia Karate Federation. Also CEO FRONTAL SYSTEMS, Ship Chandlers. Retired InfoTech Director with the Gambia Ports Authority after 42 years service. Spent 5 years in the US. A Buckeye Graduate where I developed the taste for beef jerky, smoked salmon, barbecue and the outdoors.

I swear to god I wish I could have a smoker in my backyard or in my garden. My problem is I don't have a clue as to how to start. Also, having looked at all your drawings they are all made of wood. Can it be done using aluminium frames with plate sheeting placed on top of bricks?

Finally, I am grateful for accepting me in your group and be assured of my highest considerations.

Cheers

Welcome to the site AJ.  That's an impressive resume you've got there.

It sounds to me like your asking about smokehouse construction and, if so my concern with using metal would be possible harmful gassing coming from the metal, (or coatings on the metal), and possible condensation problems caused by the humidity in the air not soaking into the metal.

Best luck.

Welcome to SMF!

Have you considered buying a smoker instead of building one?

Even if you bought it online & had it shipped I don't think it would be too expensive.

Al
