The members here have influenced me in so many ways since joining. I follow suggestions and see the success resulting in all of the great experiences shared in this forum. Funny thing is...I'm not talking about smoking meat right now. I just had my right hip replaced after 20 years of pain because of the members here sharing their experiences. Thank you Al, Bear, Ray, Lemans and anyone else that shared their stories! My surgery was Thursday morning and went home Friday afternoon. I was walking with a walker and having PT on the same day of the surgery, they gave me an epidural before surgery and I was wide awake in recovery. I had two more PT treatments before being discharged on Friday. I was taking 2 Percocets every 4 hrs, but switched to 1 for the last 3 doses. I've got a good deal of swelling, but not too much pain. I can already move my leg in ways I haven't done in 20 years!

I took 2 weeks off of work, and I've got a chicken, brisket, and a butt to smoke in my recovery! I have out patient PT starting monday morning, and then plan to get my smoke on. Happy Smoking!

Glad to hear your recovery is going well. Looking forward to seeing you back at the smoker.

Awesome recovery. Amazing how the process has changed is't it wife's was done from the side which she did have a quick recovery but her sister just had hers done and it was done in the front. Unbelievable how fast she recovered.

Thanks folks! I'm not supposed to do much for the next two weeks, I don't know how that's gonna go. I'm not used to asking for help or letting anyone do stuff for me. I am already getting edgy from taking it easy the past two days. I've got PT in the morning, maybe they will tell me I can do more.

Glad it went well. I cant not be moving all the time. I very rarely sit down, always on the move so I know what your saying.

That is fantastic Mike!
I know I sure wish I hadn't waited as long as I did before getting mine replaced.

My wife said the same thing Al wished she hadn't waited so long. Mike take it easy and don't over due you don't want to create any new problems.

Exactly Adam! The physical therapist said that I can do as much as I want. I have to use the walker for 2 weeks to prevent falling and screwing up their work. I don't need it, I think the lawn mower would make a nice supportive aid! :D

Thanks Al! 20 years ago, my doctor told me to live with the hip I was born with for as long as I can, but he didn't know me that well. :)

That's Great Mike!!
Mrs Bear is doing great, after having both of her hips done over the last year. She has no pain any more & is back to normal for a good while now. She's Tickled that she had a little bit to do with you getting yours done.
She'll be 71 next month & we'll be married 50 years on Dec 27th of this year.

Thanks Bear! I've never tickeled a Bear before, much less a Mrs. Bear! I guess it's better then poking a bear! :D She was very brave but she knew that you would be there to help with anything she needed. I wouldn't have done this without havin my "Mrs. Bear" at my side! Hope y'all have many more birthdays and anniversaries together!:)

Sure glad all went well, Mike. And free time to do a bunch of smoking--BONUS.
Gary
Thank you Gary! I just need it to quit raining everyday! Now they are keeping an eye on a disturbance near the gulf! Rain predicted everyday over the weekend. :(
