So I wake up at 3 (I have no idea why) and decide this is a good time to fire up the smoker and start the bacon smoke.
At the same time I decide that a screwdriver sounds really good. As I am consuming my 32 oz beverage waiting for the smoker to come up to temp the wife wanders out and asks - are you starting drinking already? My answer was that I had taken a sleep break from Friday and that this is an extension of Friday since I am going back to bed and that this is merely a nitecap. Her contention is that even though I am going back to bed it is several hours since I went to bed therefore a new day/ Help me out here - is this a new day or merely an extention of Friday. My liver awaits your answer LOL. BTW I did put in a call to AA and there are no meetings at this time of the nite

It would have been an extension of Friday night in my book. Is 7:30am Saturday to late to call a Friday extension?

I'm with him and it's five o'clock somewhere. Damn it

Too Funny!!!

An extension of Friday!!!!

The 'drink' was the perfect ambiance for the occasion!!! I don't care what time it was!!

DAMN IT MAN! We just need to keep out mouths shut!
Well, Scarbelly, I think we've all TRIED to answer that question at least once. If it's any consolation, I've never come up with a sufficient answer for the Mrs's... and we all know that this thread won't help you either...

Sounds like a long day at the smoker for you - bundle up, mix you up another one of those 32oz bad boys, and drink on brother!

We got your back!

Sorry: I have to side with momma on this one. Your mistake was you went to bed. Had you stayed up or passed out......errrrr.....taken a break in a lawn chair or something....... well that is just a resumption of the evenings activity. No harm there.

On the other hand, OJ is a typical and customary breakfast drink. Sourdough bread is a fermented product and I think we can all agree that's ok for breakfast. So.....I guess one could assume anything fermented, with OJ, is breakfast. No harm there.

You are off the hook.

This could involve the day/date line goin from east/west just tell her ya crossed it an it still be friday on the other side! Problem solved, ya can't argue with the planet.

to me, it's an extension of the day/night before (friday, in this case) until about noon or so, then if you're still up, it's saturday. no science behind that, just seems to be the way it is.

if all else fails, say that you originally made the screwdriver as a possible idea for brushing on the bacon now and then, but then decided not to.

So I am having some sourdough toast with a screwdriver that Mrs Scar made for me does this get me off the hook? She still has a pretty smile and the bacon in the smoker is almost done

Yeah orange juice is definitely a breakfast drink. So it's all good, you could make the same argument for a tequila sunrise, vodka cranberry, etc. Now cracking open a beer might be harder to defend

All I can tell ya is that since I quit drinking cold beer and smoking Marlboros my body has gone to hell . I wasn't a drunk but I liked my cold beer and Jack Daniels while cooking .

But how do you tell your daughter NOT to drink nor smoke with a Marlboro in one hand and a Silver Bullet in the other ?

In your case it was an extension of Friday night.

It's an extension of the previous night. A new day doesn't start till the sun comes up

.

Remember, drink beer because "The liver is evil and must be punished"

And see'n how the new day started at 12am, you missed out on 3 hours of drinking.
