I got a big bag of apple pellets for cheap bc he bag was torn. I’m throng to move all my wood chips and everything into 5 gallon buckets. Is there anything wrong with storing them in a 5 gallon bucket with no lid in my garage?

I'd cover them; even if it's just cardboard over the top...keeping animal/insect droppings from falling in. You could also just take paper grocerry bags and use those. Some people want theirs air-tight. I keep mine in my room with the bags rolled/folded up and a clip to hold them shut.

I save all my plastic coffee cans and store them in those, outdoors, on an upper shelf protected from the weather. When I use my AMNPS, I just mix what I want into one empty container, snap the lid on and heat for 2 minutes in the microwave, pour them out into the pellet tray, light, let burn for 5 minutes until 1" is charred, then blow out the flame and put in the smoker or mailbox mod.

Since you are in the Islands, I would use lidded buckets to help keep them from drawing moisture out of the air.
They burn better the dryer they are.
I do a pre-heat of my smoker before using it. And fill my AMNPS tray and set it in drying the pre-heat to dry them out before beginning.
My bulk pellets are stored in an old chlorine bucket with the screw on lid in my garage. (Cleaned, of course.) My "fireside" pellets are out by my Smoker, BBQ equipment.

I use old 40LG cat litter containers with the flip top lid. Of course I clean them and let them dry. I haven't had any issues with them being stored in my garage.

Same here. At my peak, I had about a dozen or more of them stacked up in my garage, full of pellets. Supply is now dwindling - hopefully I can catch another $5-a-bag deal at Walmart this fall.
