This bag of "wood chips" came with the Big Chief smoker that I picked up NIB. Is it worth saving and using? It looks more like sawdust than "chips". I expect that it would start smoking quick, but wouldn't last very long.

Use it, I have used complete hickory sawdust ( bought from a locker plant ) in my large smoker. I throw a couple ice cube on the pile of dust when I smoke large batches of sausage.

Congrats on the Big Chief.
I got mine used once years ago.
I learned using chunks on the frying pan produces nasty clouds of white smoke. You don't want white smoke.
I would use that bag (which is probably well dried out) mixed with pellets in a smoke tube.
