I have a chargriller wood pellet grill/smoker and it takes like 2.5 to 3hrs of running before it smokes on cook mode. Once it does start it works great. Im unclear as to why is takes so long to function properly. I use treager brand pellets so i figured that wasnt any issue. Any help would be great. Thanks

I am not familiar with that model. I would contact tech support for them to get suggestions.

Are you using an extension cord?

If so the wire in the cord needs to be larger than the wire on your grill and at least the same size as your house wire.

The cord matters because of amperage. A thin cord has more resistance so if the cord is thinner than the cord to the smoker the smoker will be trying to heat up fast and get hot enough to smolder the pellets but it will not have the power, try towing a toy hauler with a Honda accord, it may get there but it takes a while. If it is getting resistance from the power supply, it element will not get as hot as fast. It is getting up to temp, sure, but it might not be getting the element hot enough fast enough to ignite the pellets. Think of it like trying to light a fire with a bic lighter vs. a propane torch. Both will do the job, but one will do it hotter and faster.

I use a reg. Extention cord. Heavy duty. Same size or bigger than cord on grill. And the outlet is a routine garage plug in
