Steep part of the learning curve and I am a slow climber.

My offset FB is about 18" long and 16" in diameter. If I have a log about 8" in diameter, how many splits should I get for an ideal size.  John

John-

The logs that I split that are 6-12 inches in diameter gets split into fourths and anything larger than that gets split as many times as it takes so that the final splits are roughly 2 inches in diameter. Anything between 3-5 inches in diameter just gets split in half and anything smaller than 3 inches gets tossed into the firebox whole.

Hope this helps!
