American products dont compete because people keep buying non domestic made products. If domestic products were built to last than we wouldnt have a need to buy such items as toyota or honda.

Aside from the fact of "built to last", obsolesence is engineered into everything that's man made. American products would be able to compete, but there are 2 factors that don't really permit that. Corporate greed & the lack of "loyalty" by Americans for American made products. Now it's all about price as opposed to quality. Not to many folks think about loyalty. Kinda reminds me of guys who put Harley-Davidson decals in the back windows of their Toyota pick-ups.
