Started my 250 RF Build, Trailer frame first.?????

Was wondering how you determine where to put the axle at? Someone told me 60% of the frame length not including the tongue. My frame is 108" long. That 60% seems a little far forward considering that the firebox will hang off the back. I will have approximately 30" in front of tank to front of frame. Any suggestions.? Thanks

make it an adjustable axle ... mount the hangers and springs on a piece of 2" x 3" angle... then after smoker is all mounted you can move the axle to where it works best.. then the angle can be bolted to the trailer... giving a little tongue wait but not over weighted....

Then the angle can be welded to the trailer.

I like bolted.. then if more weight is added to trailer at a later date it can be moved again (easily) if needed...
