Dang nice lookin rib there Ray!

BIG LIKE!

Enjoy the cooler weather while you can as next week is gonna be HOT!

SecondHandSmoker SecondHandSmoker The SW wind is blowing all the smoke up here in the White Mountains.....

It's turning into a real monster, like the Wallow fire a few years ago.

I was wondering if you guys were up at the cabin.
Yep, I've been watching all the smoke blow up there.

Ray, forgot to say Sue and I went fishing this morning and I caught a nice 18" rainbow and she caught a couple of 16" ones.
Not bad for a couple hours of fishing.

All right John, that is music to my ears, nice job! What Lake? Trolling or bait fishing? Is the smoke real bad up there? I'm getting the Lance loaded on any day now and my boats all ready to fish. The biggest concern would be the smoke, Jan's lungs don't do real well in that kind of situation, the CA wildfires were brutal a couple years ago. RAY

Good lookin ribs . Bet they were great on the off set . Nice work .

Thanks Rich! I've done ribs on my weber with the SnS, on my Pro 100, and had some pretty good ribs off of a friends Traeger pellet popper. I don't think there's anything that compares to the great smoke flavor and bark that a good offset provides. Now I'll be taking a break for a few days eating leftovers and getting back to the flat top, Philly cheesesteaks and burgers! RAY

There are two lakes up here real close and camping next to them as well.

Check out Fool Hollow Campground and lake. It is really nice, call first to see what sites can accommodate your whole rig.
We have had moderate success here but the campsites are real nice and the lake is beautiful.

We went to Show Low Lake this morning and have historically had better success there.
It actually boasts the state record walleye was caught here. The lake is beautiful, but I have never camped there. Again call ahead and see if they have a site big enough.

We typically troll a cow bell with a snell hook then tip it with a red worm or half a crawler.

Since the wind was down this morning it is smokier than it has been the last few days, and Sue is not feeling well right now as she is super allergic to juniper (which is burning in the Bush Fire). But if the weatherman is right about the wind shifting maybe it will clear up this week.

Better yet the monsoons usually start up here around the fourth of July and you can get an afternoon shower most days and temps drop to the 60's, it is our favorite time of the year, and once they kick in it will help them get the Bush fire under control hopefully.

That's a lot of great information John, thanks a ton! I have a feeling I'm just going to have to ride things out until these fires die down, won't take a chance with Jan's breathing. If it's smoky here she can just stay inside with the AC going, smoky when camping there's just nowhere to go. Thanks again John, and congrats on the trout! RAY

Nice Ribcage, Ray!! Did Bob help??
Nice Job! Like. Bear

Bob's always a big helper in the backyard John! Doesn't matter if it's bringing something over to me that needs to be fetched or if he's just getting excited to jump in the pool, as long as he can be with me he's more than thrilled to do his part. The ribs were great, snacked a couple down for lunch and vac-sealed two dinners worth, just dump them in a pot of boiled water for 15 minutes, won't even bother with the sous vide. Thanks for the Like John, and stay safe! RAY

Those Ribs look perfect Ray! I've had trouble with my TP 20 last year. Retested the probes, found one to be 25' off. Replaced with a new probe. Since then I've switched to Inkbird 6 probes and haven't had any issues.
Glad it's a little cooler there this week.

I'll most likely go on to a Inkbird setup myself Mike. I reordered tow sets of probes for the TP-20 so I still have a brand new set to burn thru in reserve. Of course my dream is to win a new set of Inkbirds in a drawing, but that's akin to a retirement plan that counts on winning the lottery. Thank you for the Like Mike, I'm a poet that don't know it, but I sure do appreciate it! RAY

Looks delicous Ray, yeah always wear eye protection I learned years ago when I was hitting the back of an axe with a hammer and a piece of metal flew off and stuck in my eye luckily they were able to just pull it out and had to wear a patch for a week but no long term damage.
my dad had a similar thing happen but it went into his hand and they werent able to get it out. needed two stitches and i had to hose off our cement pad. we have learned to wear our ppe when working with tools now.

Ribs look great Ray! Big LIKE all around. Hope you had a great Fathers day.

Thank you John, and thanks for the Like, I do appreciate it. It felt great to fire up the big boy for that rack of ribs, I'd been so preoccupied playing with other new toys that it was just kind of sitting there doing nothing for the last month or so. I really like smoke flavor and nothing delivers it to me like meat from the offset, they take some work, always worth it to me. Father's Day was fairly laid back as usual when the mercury starts to climb, got around 109º in the afternoon, pounded out a Philly cheesesteak on the flat top. I hope you enjoyed a nice Father's Day and hope y'all are staying safe down there. RAY
