Hey all, sorry I haven't been posting any cooks, still messing with the website and decide to redo the basement and bar.

Just gutted the powder room and had a flood, YAY! Been drying that out a few days and now that is on hold till next week, I have a Klondike Derby with the scouts this weekend.

Also just finished up backing up 700+ videos and Home movies to a WD TV for my man cave.

I will definitely post something after St. Patrick's Day... I will be doing some of the cooking for my brothers party.

Plus I have been trying to drop some weight (hit a stall at -25lbs.), me and a few friends are doing a Back Pack camping trip in Gifford Pinchot National Forest.

Hopefully if we all survive, we plan on Hiking the Old Abandoned PA turnpike in the fall (The movie "The Road" was filmed there), the cannibal scene.

Hey there!  Been missing you!  Glad you are back.  Pics are gorgeous....except the water stuff.

So what kind of smoke flavor do you get out of that laminate flooring?

It,s actually vinyl, laminate man that would taste nasty!!

Supposed to be 100 percent waterproof (water should not seep through the mechanical joints)...we'll see!

Nice looking Man Cave Squib

, Mine's still a thought but getting the Wife to come around to the idea.  Not as sophisticated ,   but away from the fall-outs

.

That is a nice D-Back ,Eastern? From the Length and Grith , it looks like one. Did you harvest it and if you did , did you eat the meat?  What's the story there? I got one of the Mojaves on my Stetson.Caught, skinned, tanned, made into the Band by Me; and the meat cooked and eaten. Very good, and it doesn't taste like Chix.

.

Good to see ya back, have fun and...

Use to kill them, ate one didn't like it we apparently did not know how to cook these guys. I have a few more skins that I don't have the room to hang. (currently in the kids playhouse)

Killed quite a few near our cabin (Eastern Diamondbacks).

As I got older I found a respect for them and do not bother them, I now see how close I can get with the camera, my wife hates it when I'm playing wit these guys, Beautiful creatures.

Unfortunately, down here in Florida...Rattle Snakes and Water Moccasins are on my terrorist list. I often encounter them and take the opportunity to humanly remove them from mine and surrounding properties. I have had a cat and dog succumb to the lethal bite of these guys. I have eaten a few rattlers but never the moccasins and they are decently tasty if prepared correctly. I will usually cut them up into about 5-6 inch sections and soak them in buttermilk for a few hours. Then either batter and fry or season and grill. Either way they will be a little tough but I don't really like killing things unless they are put to good use. Water Moccasins have no good use, they are deadly and aggressive.

I grew up in NM and we had western diamond backs all over the place. Remember one time my step dad wanted to relocate one near our house, we had a big metal chest he wanted to put it in for transport - here's the plan he come up with: I would stand to the side of the metal chest with a 6 or 7 ft. pole, he would use another pole to pick up the snake and place it in the chest, and I would use my pole to flip the lid closed.

Now... here is how it actually worked in real life: I'm holdgin my pole standing by the chest. He tries to pick up the snake, snake slides of the pole, repeat 2x, snake is getting mad, he gets in a hurry and decides to flick the snake into the box..... from about 15 ft. away. So he gets under the mad snake with the pole and proceeds to fling it into the air in my general direction - snake is now thouroghly pissed!
hopmad.gif
I see the snake tumbling through the air, flipping end over end and stretching out longer with each revolution, and decide that is a great time to drop my pole and run like hell away from where the snake is going to land. Snake lands, coils and looks for something to bite.... step dad realizes we can't get near the snake and doesn't want to leave a pissed rattler less than 50 ft. from the house and has to resort to the shotgun.

SQWIB-You have a fine Irish bar in the makings there.  Like your Killian's Irish Red sign.

Looking good dude!!!

After watching how much snow and bad weather is happening up there I can live with snakes and bears..

Glad to see ya are still scouting..

This one was getting a little close to the kids and dogs.. 40 inches...

Dude that is hilarious (only because no one was hurt)

usually if you get close enough they will move on, but if you get too close, they stand their ground.

Thanks, it sort of just evolved, someone gave me a corner bar, then a beer meister and it looked a bit sloppy, so I added the mirrors and oak, steins, glasses and booze (The mirror on the left slides out to access the hideous circuit breaker box.

The wife was iffy on it until I started dressing it up, she likes it but now she worries about the booze being out since we have a 15 year old and 19 year old (girls) and our house is usually a hang out (with us home of course)

I simply said to her that, "the day I hide stuff from the kids...they win". Plus their friends are a bit scared of me because I always come down point to the bar and say, "See that stuff , It's mine if you touch it you are not only breaking the law but you are stealing from me".

But I am not a clueless parent, I am sure the day will come when someone disrespects me, but they all know there will be hell to pay, especially my kids!

Yeah the words out that I am a Killians Fan so every now and then a buddy may come over with a nifty treasure for the Man Cave.

Here is the bar with the padding (CHEESEY) and the bar back lightly stained.

Removed the padding and will be making some molding to replace the padding.

Getting 3 cherry wood bar stools and will be laminating the bar with oak ply and staining to match the bar back.

Saved one of the cloth bar stools that sits behind the bar.

For as little space as it takes up, its a nice little hangout for a few adults to kick back and relax.

Hope your boys have a great time on the Klondike this weekend. We had ours last month and it turned out well. I was on District Staff for the Varsity/Venture games. The activites we had for them were, gps course, snowshoe race, tomahawk and knife throw and snow snake carving. Our goal was to give the boys a chance to hone their skills for the Council Biathalon that was held the following weekend. And to give those boys not going an idea of what they were gong to miss out on.

Have fun and have a safe trip!

Craig what did you plop on his head?
Flat shovel..

I have the carcass in the freezer to skin and make a hatband someday..

I shoot the oak snakes with my HW55 air rifle...177...

I used to take the oak snakes across the road but they kept coming back..

Good to hear you are still kicking...I'm jealous about that sign! Very cool...JJ
