Well done as always SQWIB...on both accounts!

Man I gotta get a man cave!  I guess the only problem is that in Florida we don't have basements...off to the garage I go!  Have a good weekend buddy!

Hope your boys have a great time on the Klondike this weekend. We had ours last month and it turned out well. I was on District Staff for the Varsity/Venture games. The activites we had for them were, gps course, snowshoe race, tomahawk and knife throw and snow snake carving. Our goal was to give the boys a chance to hone their skills for the Council Biathalon that was held the following weekend. And to give those boys not going an idea of what they were gong to miss out on.

Have fun and have a safe trip!
Here's the letter I was proud to send out to the parents.

Congratulations to TROOP 460 for showing great Teamwork and Leadership.

I am sure everyone has heard by now. And Bragging rights are in order.

So with that said, CONGRATS for Taking First Place!! WOOHOO!!!  Words can not describe the SURPRISE and JOY when these boys were awarded first place. There was definitely a feeling in the air that can not be described or shown in pictures. I thought Rick and Ken would never stop Sobbing (Just Kidd'n)

But most importantly, the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts came together and worked as a team, there was no bickering, no complaining no arguing, they all followed the patrol leaders instructions flawlessly. Parents, you would not have recognized these boys being so well mannered and following directions! lol

WOW, what an experience.

Waking up early in a cold cabin, having pancakes, eggs and bacon, dressing for the day at hand,  fighting cold weather, and less than favorable conditions ,such as injuries, illness, mud, hills and rocks, these boys were steadfast, they had a mission and did not let anything get in their way.

They trudged through these adverse conditions for 6.5 grueling hours!!

These boys PROVED teamwork does pay off and these boys were definitely a team.

All the SCOUTS did great and may I add the Webelo's 2 Kicked KLONDIKE @ss!!!!! (Sorry, could not help myself)

I am very proud of everyone as we all are!!

Yes there will be a Klondike Video soon!!!

See if you can spot me in the picture.

We had 2 sleds and the first sled left a bit early.

They were Utter Madness, Got Milk got cheese got mad cow disease!

The winning patrol was The King Cobra Patrol.

This is the second flag I made for them, they kept changing the patrol name and on the third change, went back to this one...I was getting tired of making flags lol.

My boys are crossing over in a few weeks and ends a 5 year chapter for me with them.

I'm not sure if there will be a position for me in the Boy Scouts as they are all filled, but there are some rumors flying around that they are eager for me to crossover as well.

I was proud of them before the awards ceremony, because it's really not about winning but rather Teamwork, Leadership, Listening to your Patrol Leader and completion. A lot of troops came late and left early, we came early and left late, making sure to complete every station.

I spoke with the Scoutmaster and he's been with us for 25 years and said in his 25 years this is our first win at first place, wow, that's a nice entrance for the webelos into boy scouts since half the patrol was made up of webelos, hey I finally done something right!

Outstanding Job! I remember Scouting fondly. I aged out just a Project short of Eagle Scout! My Father was mine and my brothers Webelos Leader and later Pack Master. In fact he stayed Pack Master for some 4 Years after we moved on to Boy Scouts then came over as Assistant Scout Master...JJ

Wow. Wish you had time to get some work done around my house!

Former Eagle Scout myself. Here's my latest addition to scouting:

Looking forward to many years of scouting..

I am the unnoficial photographer for the Cubs and Boy scouts, this trip was about 750 photographs

There will always be a position for good leaders for our kids. Perhaps you could sway them with one of your mulit-meat smokes. :grilling_smilie:

After crossover you can start the adult training..get your Wood Badge outa the way...

Here's a couple Wood Badgers...

Will do,

Great picture.
Sqwib.... Welcome to Washington when you guys get here.....  Dave
I would really like that, hey you never know.

That came up in topic this week, the parents were wondering if I was going to take over the cooking and do some smoked stuff... that would be awesome.

Good looking scout.

It's funny how I became Tiger Leader.

I said I like to help "Behind the Scenes", heck no one wants to commit.

Anyhow I told my wife that I was going camping in November "Guys Trip" and said, "don't sign me up for anything while I'm gone"

Guess what... anyhow it was one of the best decisions she made.. on my behalf anyway!

The boys cross over tonight and Friday we are having a party for them.

The Mancave flooring is done with the exception of a little painting, adding the thresholds and finishing the molding.

I will be working on the bar in a few weeks, still have a bunch of things to do, Daughters Sweet 16 party, Fix the playhouse/Shed (a squirrel nearly knocked me off the ladder while working in there yesterday. Still fixing my broken links on the Forum and Website.

When the weather breaks I need to finish digging out a hill and removing a brick retaining wall (brick by brick, bucket by bucket) Stain the deck and work on the Koi Pond.

So what kind of smoke flavor do you get out of that laminate flooring?

LOL - Last year I was doing some tri-tips and the traditional way to smoke it calls for Red Oak wood to be used. I had white oak, but no red. Then I remembered the scraps I saved from doing my dining room floor; Unfinished Select Red Oak! I called the lumber guy and he said the wood is milled raw with no chemicals added! BAM! I had my red oak! Turned out great, but not sure if I noticed a big difference.
Looking good dude!!!

After watching how much snow and bad weather is happening up there I can live with snakes and bears..

Craig
I can handle the snow b/c I know when it's coming! But the idea of taking out the garbage at night or walking down a wooded path where snakes lurk scares me to a primitive level. I don't hate snakes, just glad they love warm climates. The only poisonous snakes we have in Michigan is the Eastern Massasauga Rattlesnake, but it's so rare I've never seen one or known someone who has.

Lastly, FL is a GREAT place for fine weather and beaches. Will be in Miami next month....
