Greetings. I'm not sure where my original post went, so I will re-post a condensed version.

I recently acquired a lightly used all SS MES 40 20070311. I would like to purchase a spare 1200W heating element but MB has discontinued the part #9907090039. Are the aftermarket units worth purchasing?

Thank you in advance!

Here you go:

Just be aware that your issue might not be the element. There are others far more experienced with the MES electronics than myself. tallbm tallbm and chopsaw chopsaw are a couple of guys you may wish to consult before purchasing a new element.

Thanks Norman. I saw the element you referenced. Like all the others on Amazon and eBay they appear to be aftermarket and not OEM.
Some or all may be built by the same supplier MB used. Quality is the question
my current element is fine. I’m just looking for a spare. Just in case.

You're pretty much not going to do any better. All these parts are made in China regardless, not really anything such as OEM when it comes to MB.

Most folks usually don't post looking for these items unless they actually need them but a backup never hurts.I guess I should have read your post more closely!

This pic doesn't match my element for the 20070311 all SS Gen 1 Mes 40 with no center hole in the mounting bracket for the grounding wire, nut and bolt. It also isn't an L bracket mounting plate. Post #2 above is correct pic. If you want to go through Amazon this is what I'd get. About $22.50 with 10% coupon. The interior of the the newer 20070311 has the slanted chip housing roof but my 2015 20070311 had a square box chip loader housing with flat roof that takes this element part number 9907090039 like post #2.

Thanks for all the input . There is no shortage of these for sale, the challenge is finding the best one. If there is such a thing.
i ended up order one off of eBay https://www.ebay.com/itm/256533968027. Reputable seller and the photo actually depicts the same engraved part number. hopefully it’s a good one.
I plan on installing the new element and saving the original as a spare.
