That is my favorite soup too, but I don't soak my beans. I put everything in the instant pot and set for 40 min, let it decompress on its own. Super easy. Search google for instant pot and senate bean soup.

Wow Richie good cold weather meal there a course I can eat soup or beans anytime.

Moving date set huh. Good luck with move.

Not wanting to dis my dear sainted mother, but... she was not much of a cook. I was fully into adulthood before I tasted good navy bean soup. Mom's version was boiling a bunch of navy beans with some salt in the water and not much else in the way of seasoning. Serving involved pouring the beans over a slice of white bread and topping it with some ketchup. To be fair though, she was a child of the depression and there were times in my growing up years when we didn't have much money so that may have played a part. I am now fortunate enough to be able to buy a ham hock when needed and to have a big pot of Cajun red beans on the stove (which I do). We'll make a big pot of navy beans before winter is over, that's for sure.

Dang me but that looks good Richie. I love a good home made soup but just don't seem to have it often enough.
Congrats on the fast sell of your house. You weren't kidding when you told me it would be an easy sell. Take care during rhe move.

I like that tradition of bean soup in the United States Senate. Set the politics aside, and get a bowl and spoon.

Apparently, the House of Representatives goes hungry.
