I think it’s been pretty well documented I’m a big bourbon guy. Sip on a lot of Makers 46, and Woodford Double Oaked around the ranch. Besides that more beer than I care to mention.

But I came across this the other day and of course I had to buy it.

Seemed appropriate.

Now I’m not a mesquite guy by any means. Never been much of a fan of this wood. But when I picked up this box of crown it actually smelled Smokey! No way I wasn’t buying it at this point!

Reminded me of the way you smell after coming in after a long day or smoking and your wife tells you to take a shower before you come to bed. Shower?!?!? For what? That’s like men’s cologne where I come from!

I don’t want to speak for anyone else but I take pride in that smell! And it usually involves me sleeping on the couch! Now at least when I’m on the couch I’ll have something Smokey to sip on!

I’m thinking it’s gonna go good with these pork nachos this week!

Red & blue bag. Stalker sitting behind the bottle.

Red & blue collar with stars. Texas themed for sure. Scout thinks she wants some. She’s wrong, I think. We’re not gonna find out....

I took a sip of it tonight but made a mistake of doing so after eating those nachos. Put to much homemade ghost sauce on them so my mouth was pretty tingly. Not sure I got the full effect of the whiskey. I noticed some smoke flavor but honestly I really thought it’d be a stronger flavor. I also picked up something a little sweet with the Smokey flavor.

Tough to really judge it with my mouth in this condition but my one sip wasn’t bad and I can see sipping on this with a few beers over a nice Saturday smoke.

Thanks for looking,
Scott

Lol!

Thanks Mike. I usually go the bourbon route but crown royal whiskey ain’t half bad. And when you mix some smoke up with it.... well it was a no brainer.

As for the pork nachos, well it’s a great way to use left over pulled pork. Something different than your standard pp sandwich.

Thanks,
Scott

Thanks crazy moon! Not bad for a Wednesday huh? Lol!

I feel my bourbon education will never be worthy! The most high end one I've ever had is Angel's Envy. I should really keep a bottle around and start branching out. I need to find a way to have a drink with out just downing beer and ending up sick!

<PS; The nachos look amazing.>

I am also a bourbon guy.
Blanton's on the top of my list with Bookers right there as well.
Not usually a crown fan. The wife's uncle came down from Canada and brought a bottle of Crown rye..must say that is pretty good..I keep at least one of those bottles around for casual drinking.
The wife picked me up a bottle of this CR Texas Mesquite.. I did not like it. The smoke flavor to me tasted very weird. Maybe on the fake side or something? Cant quite put my finger on it.
On the same note glad you like it! sip away sir!
Have you tried Woodford Reserve cherry wood smoked barley? Very good flavor and tasty bourbon..for my taste anyway.

Not a Bourbon gut here either why ruin good CR with Mesquite ??? Although to each his own!

When they get done with the new tariffs it may not be cost effective anyway.

Nacho's look great.

Tom,

Angels envy is pretty good. I have a buddy who swears by it. Buy a bottle of woodford or Makers 46. Can’t go wrong!

I've actually had Maker's Mark <Don't believe it was the 46 though. I believe it was just the normal line>. I still preferred Angel's Envy. Angel's Envy was smoother and sweeter to me. My friend from Ireland swears by Maker's mark though!

Joe,

I can’t give my seal of approval yet. Need to sip on it a little longer without my mouth being jacked up from ghost sauce. I’m not a big crown guy for sipping either. I mix it with soda.

I’m not a Blantons Guy. Have a bottle at home and just never cared for it much. Most people rave about it. My cousins drink it like it’s water. Wish I could put my finger on it, just something I don’t care for about it. I don’t hate it, it’s ok just not near the top of my list.

Woodford cherry smoked barley?!?!?? I’ve never seen it! How is it? I’m curious! Going to hit up Makers and beam again on the way to Nashville next month. Woodford is way outta the way but I might have to change the plans a bit.

Half,

I’m ok not drinking crown. We make great bourbon and whiskey here in Kentucky & Tennessee.

Scott

And crown rye ain’t bad at all! But buy a bottle of woodford rye. Game changer.

Scott

Tom,

46 if Makers higher end. Only about $40 a bottle here in Michigan so it’s not too crazy. It’s a lot smoother.

I'll have to ask my friend to bring a bottle or two into his bar :) He routinely gets 6 bottles of some thing just to try it. I've now had peach and pecan whiskeys there. Some crazy things. I suspect if he has Angel's Envy he him self will start drinking it. <If we can get him away from Fireball. His birthday down there they went through 12 bottles, I still think he was at least four of them!>

Fireball can catch up on yah quick. I only do it in shot form, and it almost never ends where I’ve woke up the next day and thought “that was a great night!”. Lol!

Don't I know it. These days I drink once a week, and it never goes well. Gets me sick most times...back in my days of weekend partying, the rule was 'Don't let Tom hold the bottle of Fireball' as I'd end up just drinking it like a soda. Then two hours later I'd be unconscious and 6 hours later heaving up my guts in a corn field and wondering why I hated my self LOL
