Well I was dinking around on photo book and I uploaded my bear hunting pics from last fall with my brother wl_kb3 so I figured I would post some pics if you guys wanted to look. Here are the bears that we shot. We won the bear hunt at a benefit auction for my little cousin who had a brain tumor. It happened to be a hunt given away by my little cousins step dad. They run a bear guide service near Gully, MN. They have a big party every labor day weekend called Bear Fest. Its a three day party with live music and good food. I will be bringing my UDS up there this summer and put out some good Q for the potluck for sure. Here are the bear pics.

Another Shot.

My brothers bear.

My brother and I.

Since it was for a family benefit my wife wanted to go along with hunting. So she was in the stand with me. She was the one that actually was bidding on the hunt. She actually spotted the bear before I did. These things are so quiet coming in. You don't hear a thing they are all of a sudden just there.

The three bears that were shot that night.

Sorry it got kind of long hope you enjoyed the pics. We are loving the bear meat. My brother and I made a bunch of sticks and we have been eating the steaks lately too. The bear meat is awesome we love them fried with a little salt and pepper and then put a can of grilling beans over them. Good Stuff!!

I'm so bummed, since they changed the proxy at my work the majority of the pics posted here are blocked. Note to self: Log on from home tonight to check out bear hunt pics from rbranster. Even though I can't see the pics I have no doubt you did well!

Good looking bears. Had my first taste of bear meat last summer, and was impressed. Plenty of hunts down here in TN. Although I'm not brave enough to venture in the woods with those big boys roming around.

Nice pic's, had you ever been bear hunting before, I've had a couple friends that have went before but I've never hunted them, looks like a good time.
I bet that three day party is a blast too, hope your little cousin turned out OK also,,,,,,

I've never been bear hunting, but a friend of mine had a can of bear bait labeled Ten Dead Horses. He opened it in the truck when we were deer hunting. It lived up to its name...

damn nice looking bears, how is the meat smoked? nothin much to hunt down here excpt gators and hogs I send you some gator tail for some bear steaks!

I have always heard that bear is soo greasy and not very good tasting. That is NOT the case at all. I would have to say that I would take bear tender lions over venison tender loins any day. Don't get me wrong I love the venison loins but the bear ones were better in my opinion. And we didn't marinate them or anything just a little seasoning on them and fry them up. Now I have not tried any roasts so I don't know what they taste like. My guess is the people that say it is bad have eaten some where it wasn't prepared very well. Probably left a lot of tallow and fat on the meat and that is what they were tasting instead of the good meat. My cousins have always said how good bear meat is and now I know they are right. And yes my little cousin's brain surgery to remove the tumor went well and she is all better now. It wasn't cancerous so she is in the clear for now. Annual check ups and all that still need to be done but she will hopefully be fine. She went to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN for the surgery and kind of a cool story her doctor actually went up and did a bear hunt with them last fall as well.

Nice looking bears indeed. Very glad to hear your cousin is doing well, scary stuff.

Make any bear rugs? I remember a friend of mine when I was growing up had a bear rug in their living room with head and all, I always thought that was the coolest thing.

Great job on them bears, especially with a bow, nice Hoyt!
