Is Jack's Old South the true all time champion or it is someone else ? I read books by another guy who states he is a 7 time world champion so if he is 7 time world champiuon and Myron is a 3 time world champion isn't the other guy 4 times better than Myron ? Just Sayin .....what about our SMF owner ? How many comps has he won ?

Plus how many champions do we have among us ?

Good question would be interesting to see how many on smf have competed & or won a competition. We did one last year got spanked overall but got 2nd place in chicken.

I know Myron is referring to MIM wins........

Some say winning the Jack or Royal would be more prestigious since it is about the cooking and no dog and pony portion like MIM.

Seen others make a case for KCBS TOY being the best there is.

I suppose it will just depend on who you ask..........

In any case, you can't argue with their successes, maybe need to look at winning % with a minum of XX# contest entered?

Maybe this is it?

Troublemaker. LOL

Oh......and just for the record, my best overall finish is 3rd.......but Myron wasn't at that one so I am not sure it counts.

Paul Kirk, 7 world titles, 475 awards including over 200 category wins in KCBS last I knew.

I was going off him saying he has won 3 and Chris has won two so that is 1 better . Thanks

i have never entered a comp any never even considered it, probably would do terrible

it seems to me from watching the show that not one of those people are enjoying themselves, all i see is bitchin and moaning, now i realize that the network edits to thier perspective and wants the drama but it just does not look like fun, looks more like work, if its work than i'll turn the smoker off and go back to work instead and make some money.

just my opinion

Personally, I can't wait to do a comp...
First, I'll need better equipment and more practice - as I've really only been smoking for two years or so, maybe a tad more - but certainly not for too long compared to most professionals.

Yo! Rick you couldn't get a more wrong impression of comps than from that dumb made for the masses show. I have attended only two shows and have never entered any but I did stay up all night at one and 1/2 the night at the other one. Everyone involved had a blast. The camaraderie of the contestants was simply amazing. One fellow had his fire go out and some of his biggest competitors went around town looking for him meanwhile another fellow took a chance and added some coals to the guys fire. He finally showed up quite abashed and thanked everyone profusely. Seems he had slept thru the alarm. It was marvelous to see how People loaned stuff back and fourth freely and everyone was more than eager to share their knowledge and show off their smokers including the mods they had made. Secret recipes excepted of course.

thats the stuff they should put on the show, but i guess for the ratings it's better to show the drama? too bad cause it puts out the wrong impression

There really isn't a "true" all time champion.

You just sorta take a look at their body of work and form your own opinion. Myron is just being Myron when he talks smack like that.

I'm going with Chris Lilly, of Big Bob Gobson.
And you can't forget Mike Mills, and Mike Davis

Gnu Bee beat me to it,,, I was gonna say I have never won anything but fist in any catagory,,,, At my house and parties I have attended.....

I still think the best smoked meat I ever ate was from a now dead fella in north carolina... I have never eaten anything better...

exactly true! Nicest bunch of people you will ever meet. It is alot of work and money, but its fun and no one does it for a living, most have full time jobs, and past champions make alot more money teaching BBQ classes or gettting paid endorsements from tv shows or sponsors.

I have been very luck to compete a few times. There is alot to learn, but its fun to do.Out of 5 comps, we have taken ribbons in 4 of them ( 5 ribbons total) I have a great partner/s and our # 1 goal is to have fun and not finish last!
